Do not let what those people have said get to you. Keep to a healthy diet, with lots of fluids and exercise daily with a nice long walk. Not a sprint, just a gentle walk. My hubby had a stroke and he was a very healthy robust man, so no matter what anyone says, if its for you, it won't go by you, as my gran used to say. Ignore them and live your life happily. Good luck.

Hi #lisalesa, that is, of course a very understandable fear, though I know several people who have had multiple TIAs or mini-strokes as they are often referred to and they have lived to tell the tale for ages. Sleep problems are something that most survivors seem to complain of and two years down my particular road I find sleep pretty patchy. Do try and talk to your doc.and see if you get talking therapy as offloading /voicing some of the things that keep us all awake at night can really help talking here was a good first step #lisalesa and I have no doubt others will suggest you contact the stroke association or Mind (No!, you're not going nuts, butas with something like a broken leg you need something to lean on while it heals

Lisa, if the first was the warning, I wouldn't be writing this to tell you the opposite! f you think logically about it, we are all going to die, there is no way we get out of here alive! As to the how, well then its gets a bit complicated, but the odd TIA for me isn't a problem, as like a finger cut, they are an inconvenience but life goes on! However if they multiply at short intervals then it becomes a whole new ball game and that is the time to permit yourself a bit of concern! I now there is a possibility, so my funeral is paid for and I bought and registered my own DNR as I have no intention of becoming a guinea pig for some well meaning white coat I've never met, without my consent! So I wear my dog tag with pride, as a life well lived against the odds! If you do not control fear, which is False Evidence Appearing Real, then it will control you. The choice is yours but live until you die, against the odds! :-)

HI

Would agree with the above ..... none of us are going to live forever .... so make what time you have here count and try to enjoy it - whatever circumstances may bring you.

It can be scary for a little while - hope you have some people around you - medical / family to help you through the first few weeks/months - but hopefully you can move on to find meaningful things to be doing with the life you have.............. I was reminded about - and forgive me if I shouldn't use this really as I think it belongs to a charity strap phrase .... " it's not about believing in life after death .... it's about believing in life before death" .....

I had cvsst in Oct 2014 - hospitilised then carers at home - and now wear my medical ID and get out to as many places / do as many things as I possibly can. Travelled a bit ( S Africa, Moscow, China ) and planning India later this year..... My motto has more recently been " just do it" .....

Hope you find a way that works for you ...

:-)

Dont beleve everything you hear. Your Doc or nurse will answer any worries you have. I had TIA in April. My BP has now dropped, and |I have lost weight as have watched my diet since the TIA. Walk a little every day, and try relaxation . Eat sensibly drink plenty of water.. Try not to dwell on it , I did in the beginning ,but tell yourself "what will be... will be, but try help yourself..
