Itching and Fluid Retention

I am on PD dialysis and doing well except for the itching that I am experiencing in my back area. Also, I seemed to be retaining extra fluid. Could this be my diet? Any and all advice would be great!

Hey, I start PD in the next two to three months so I'm very interested in finding out what other people go through. I understand itching is related to phosphorus levels. You may read about that in other posts on here. Do you know if your phosphorus levels are in the "normal" range or not? That would be a good place to start. Here's an article about itching: kidney.org/atoz/content/dia...

As for retaining fluids, I'm trying to remember what others have said about that, but from what I remember, reducing the amount you drink is part of the "program" for dialysis folks, but usually more for in center hemodialysis than PD I thought. Here's a page that talks about it: pdempowers.com/patientlivin...

So get with your medical team, Doc, PD nurse, dietician and see if they need you to make adjustments to diet or the amount you drink, or if medication needs to be adjusted. I'm sure others will chime in on this topic with more information soon.
