Welcome. My 78 yr old husband has been on pd for 15 months. He had to have his catheter repositioned and tacked down in September. All seems to be working pretty well. He still has some pain but not nearly as bad as it was.

Hi Letty,

I am 70, been on CAPD for 13 months now and has transformed my life.

I still work full time and enjoy my work.

Unfortunately I have had peritonitis 3 times, just confirmed it is a reoccurrence of the first bug which has colonised on the catheter so I am having my catheter removed today and a new one fitted in 6-8 weeks time.

I think the original infection was caused by the catheter tube being damaged as I carried a heavy box with it held close to my tummy and damaged the tube, had it repaired but the damage done by then, so the moral is do as you are told and nor carry heavy objects.

Hope all goes well with your husband.
