I understand a diet rich in protein and low in carbs without much variation in nomal fat intake reduces Blood sugar levels.

I have experienced myself by replacing some of the carbohydrates in my morning breakfast with Proteins such as egg, Chana, Dal, Rajma etc and find about 20 pts reduction in Blood sugar fasting and PP level

The Atkins diet involves limited consumption of carbohydrates to switch the body's metabolism from metabolizing glucose as energy over to converting stored body fat to energy. This type of diet is expensive.
