(IFCC) 36 mmol/mol, if your HbA1c is below 48 mmol/mol then it is under control!

What are your questions, ?

What medication are you taking.?

What diet are you following.?

Any additional information may help others, like regular exercise!

Dear Ogigga

While the good news is that your Hba1c is under good control, however

I think considering your age- you are at 40- your medication is too much !

While you have not mentioned about your weight and BMI , I presume -

from the medicines you are taking- you may be a thin type T2 with low body weght with impaired beta cells of your pancreas and so very low level of blood insulin.

All the medicines that you are eating are aimed at whipping the pancreas for secreting insulin...

In the long run , the insulin secretagogues are known to further damage the beta cells and unfortunately eventually it may lead to such a situation that your beta cells may stop working and i am afraid you may have to resort to external insulin....

You may like to make some changes in your lifestyle and diet and with proper physical exercise which would help minimising medications....

Our members can suggest you a lot of guidelines on various diet and lifestyle....

However, if you are obese T2 and your blood insulin levels are high ( without medication) , you may not need these medications at all....

Have you ever checked your fasting insulin ( natural - without medication)?

Please consult your physician and test your blood circulating insulin and C-Peptide test which would indicate your beta cell status / health of pancreas ..

The recommended natural treatment for Obese Type 2 with higher Blood insulin levels / insulin resistance are :

(1) LCHF diet

(2) Calori restriction/ IDM/ IF

(3) physical exercise

In such a situation of Obese type 2 with very high IR, at best you can take Metformin in consultation with your Doctor.

Just quoting the 2nd portion of my earlier response :

You gave the following information:

"my height is 179cm and my weight is 88kg"

"my latest HBA1c (glycated) was 5.4%, (IFCC) 36 mmol/mol or 6.0mmol/L"

What is your weight size?

Medication is giving you good reading, but if you consider life style change on the long run you can enjoy good health.

First try to reduce your weight to 78 kg by only eating food between midday and 6PM.

go for regular exercise.

Look out for free and hidden sugar in food and drinks.

This may be difficult any way give it a try.

I asked for the waist size!, he need to check the waist to height ratio, South Asians waist size needs to be controlled.

"my height is 179cm and my weight is 88kg", I am afraid the weight needs to come down to closer to 78 or 80kg!!!

May be high dosage on medication is giving this result "my latest HBA1c (glycated) was 5.4%, (IFCC) 36 mmol/mol or 6.0mmol/L"

He needs to have a good discussion with a specialist.

I read in the new paper today:

" Who lose 10 per cent of body weight more likely to send type 2 diabetes into remission "

I am not sure how true this is! Will give it a try.

You need to go for a check up with your doctor, this may be individual problem, only a medical qualified person can answer it?
