Insomnia : What is best way to sleep well? I... - Diabetes India
Insomnia
Have you tried starting a sleep diary? You can write down how long it takes to fall asleep and how long you are still sleeping each night. When do you usually start getting ready for bed?
No, I go to bed normally at 10pm sleep until 1-2am at midnight I became wake and trying to sleep with no good result till near early morning 5am.
I don't know what is going on is it cause of stress or any new illness?
Do you have anything that is causing stress right now? If stress and/or illness is going on, you could have trouble sleeping. I have sleep issues when I don't feel well. Have you seen your doctor about the sleeping issue?
Knowing the pattern of your sleep i.e. falling asleep well and getting up late in the night indicates that you have some unresolved issues going on in the mind. Try to find what is the cause of stress and resolve that before going to bed. Some kind of meditation may be helpful before going to bed.
In my experience, sleep disorder is the worst thing that can happen to a diabetic because whatever you do,diabetes will shoot up if you do not get good sleep.I consulted a psychiatrist, who prescribed a medicine. Now,my sugar levels are back on track.Besides that,I was told that some hospitals have sleep clinics that conduct sleep studies.I did not try it because it was bit expensive(around rs.8000/-)
I tried many techniques was not effective thus I went to doctor and he prescribed me with tablets Escitalopram 10mg and Clonazepam 0.5mg
Last night sleep was good and let see what happens next
I am registered pharmacist in U.K.
There are 3 types of insomnia.
Transient insomnia ( this is temporary disturbance to sleep bcz of many reasons, Such as jet lag, moving homes, changes to the sleeping pattern for e.g. Drinking tea or coffee at night before bed etc)
Short term insomnia (<3 weeks due factors such as exams, bereavement, job loss etc)
Chronic insomnia (more than 3 weeks)
Due to underlying issues, such as depression.
Which you have to determine yourself.

Drink a mug of hot milk mixed with a spoon of pure honey at around 9.30 PM if you want to get sleep at 10.00 PM.
Keep active & plenty of fresh air. Go for walks & don't sit still. Good luck
HAVE SHAOWER BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP. ALSO CHANT " AUM" FOR AT LEAST 108 TIMES WHILE ABOUT TO SLEEP.

Going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day can create a steady pattern which may help to prevent or treat insomnia.

Thanks for the reply, does above meds make us habitual or addictive in long term?
They have some good sleep medicines in Ayurveda including Patanjali. May try them as they do not have side effects.
One which I have tried and is useful is you sit or even while going to sleep lay down and just open and shut your eyebrows quickly / fast for 2 to 3 minutes or slightly longer. . You are going to get good sleep. Drink about a glass hot Milk. May even try meditation like Anoom Vilom Bhastrika etc. Will be soothing and you will get a sound sleep. Do 2 to 2.5 hrs before going to sleep.
