Your sugar levels are indeed high but you should not worry too much about it because you can bring it down to normal levels.I hope you have already consulted a good diabetologist. As a long term diabetic I am offering some general suggestions which you may consider.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which is a result of the pancreatic gland in our body either produces little or no insulin or the body has developed resistance to insulin. In both cases,the body cells do not receive the glucose needed for production of energy because insulin is essential for glucose to enter the cells. This results in the blood sugar levels to increase beyond acceptable levels,though your body cells are starved for glucose. This condition is very bad for our well being and over long term may result in severe complications.

Controlling blood sugar levels is a tough job but it is not impossible if you realize that every thing is in your own hands. This is so,because though you may get good advise from doctors and dieticians,it is ultimately Y O U that will have to take all the necessary steps to successfully control diabetes.I am giving certain general suggestions based on my personal experience which you may consider and adopt based on your personal choice.

Diet plays a very important role in managing diabetes. You should reduce intake of foods that are rich in carbohydrates like sweets, rice,wheat,other grains ,potato,beet and other root vegetables rich in starch. You should eat more of vegetables,sprouts,greens and salads that give you lot of fiber,vitamins and minerals. Each meal you take should be smaller but you may have 5 or 6 meals instead 3 meals a day.

Exercise is very important to control diabetes. Daily brisk walking or jogging for at least 40 to 60 minutes is ideal. Such exercise will consume lots of energy and sugar levels come down accordingly.

Mental stress aggravates diabetes. Lead a stress free life by adopting relaxation techniques like music meditation,yoga and breathing exercises.

Consult a diabetologist and get prescribed for medication if necessary and comply with the doctor's advise scrupulously.

Please remember that the most important person in managing your diabetes is Y O U.

Many thanks for your reply & explanation, my fasting b/sugar is around 145 to 160 & after 2hrs is around 205 to 230 but I'm not taking any medication, this been for last 2 years, however I totally stopped taking sugar or sweet except extremely rare, however I started taking honey and also dates but the level is almost same, when I do fast walking exercise for 40 to 45 minutes the level reaches very little above hundred. Appropriate your advice.

I would prefer you to do a master health check up... mostly check the functioning of kidney's and your urine level (you can observe it from the color ) if all is well then no need for any med

A good note from Shri Venkatramana. Every Diabetic should read and benefit.

I see a no of questions relating to uncontrolled sugar levels. It is not easy advise. Only a diabetologist .can render such an advice. This forum can be used more to reduce the ,medication to keep the sugar under control. As over a period of time and age, the tablet and insulin requirements tend to increase!

Fasting blood sugar (FBS) should be less than 100 mg/dL.

Post-prandial blood sugar (PPBS) should be less than 140 mg/dL.

Do not consume food after 6:00 pm. This will reduce FBS..

Walk at least 30 minutes after taking meals. This will reduce PPBS.

Check your PPBS level daily and FBS occasionally. Avoid foods that cause elevated blood sugar levels.

Keep a record for yourself and your health care provider. This will be a big help if you are having problems controlling your diabetes. It will also tell you what you did when you were able to control your diabetes. To get the most help with controlling your blood sugar, write down:--

* The time of day

* Your blood sugar level

* The amount of carbohydrates you ate

* The type and dose of your diabetes medicine

* The type of any exercise you do and how long you exercise for

* Anything unusual, such as stress, eating different foods, or being sick
