Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which is a result of the pancreatic gland in our body either produces little or no insulin or the body has developed resistance to insulin. In both cases, the body cells do not receive the glucose needed for production of energy because insulin is essential for glucose to enter the cells. This results in the blood sugar levels to increase beyond acceptable levels, though your body cells are starved for glucose. This condition is very bad for our well being and over long term may result in severe complications.

Controlling blood sugar levels is a tough job but it is not impossible if you realize that every thing is in your own hands. This is so,because though you may get good advise from doctors and dieticians,it is ultimately Y O U that will have to take all the necessary steps to successfully control diabetes.I am giving certain general suggestions based on my personal experience which you may consider and adopt based on your personal choice.

Diet plays a very important role in managing diabetes. You should reduce intake of foods that are rich in carbohydrates like sweets, rice, wheat, other grains ,potato, beet and other root vegetables rich in starch. You should eat more of vegetables, sprouts, greens and salads that give you lot of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Each meal you take should be smaller but you may have 5 or 6 meals instead 3 meals a day.

Exercise is very important to control diabetes. Daily brisk walking or jogging for at least 40

to 60 minutes is ideal. Such exercise will consume lots of energy and sugar levels come down accordingly.

Mental stress aggravates diabetes. Lead a stress free life by adopting relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga and breathing exercises.

Consult a diabetologist and get prescribed for medication if necessary and comply with the doctor's advise scrupulously.

Please remember that the most important person in managing your diabetes is Y O U.

@venkataramana your answer is perfect one, you have expained it all! In addition, we need to watch what we eat and build the culture of eating proper food to our family and the community. We are what we eat! There is a chance for children to get diabetes if parents are diabetic, so it is important to caution the family members to watch what they eat. Diabetes and hypertension are interelated! Preventing one means preventing both, however not all diabetic are hyepertensive and virse versa, but being diabetic, is a risk factor for hypertension and vice versa.

It is you to remember to watch what you eat!

Even breathing will help, but to cure from diabetes you have to fast as much as you can and when you desire any time to break your fast you just take greens stop your self from normal food, do this just for one week and then check your sugar level and report.

I have a friend who is diabetic 2 and he used a product called SE2 and stem flo and his sugar levels are most of the time 6 to 7. What a product does is to assist the pancreas to release insulin. This person is in Tanzania too. to get more information about it visit fridanzogya1.stemtechbiz.co.za

If your diabetes is out of control then you are the cause. Take your medication, exercise and eat a healthy diet and small portion of food at a time.

What most of the answers say is correct! Less starchy foods, more salads, smaller amounts, and regular exercising!

I was bordering on getting out of control, but since my meeting with the doctor, i changed my life around completely.... Less food, i make a point of exercising about 3 times a week (walking and jogging), more fibre in my food (Whole bread, greens etc.) ... have done this for a little over a year now and i am now down from XXL shirts to L or XL. Waist down from 42 inches to 40 inches. I feel much better, i am lighter on my feet and a lot more positive about life.

Next target is to bring the stomach down a bit more (noever easy) but will try! Whatever it is do not give up!

P.S: Almost forgot. i have not had a soda since i left the hospital in May 2011 :)

If you diabetic do the following as a friend of mine who did the following and now is doing great:

Eliminate simple sugar. Eat fruit

75% of calories needed should come from complex carbohydrate, 20% of your calories should come from proteins.

Eat little fat, polyunsaturated fat preferably ( fish, tuna, salmon, olive oil,

Eat minimum of 40 grams of fiber.l Lower your cholesterol

Eat small amount several times a day instead of eat 3 big meals consume any nutritional supplement that contain chromium like chromium picolinate. ginseng produce an effect similar to this element. be careful with consumption of alcohol. by doing so you will observe positive results,

WARNING: Any treatment that you take should be under medical care. for information no nutritional supplement to be consumed please contact me as im also in Tanzania through my number. 0754510581
