it’s pretty simple really, low carb snacks which in general will mean high protein. So try having a a slice of ham in preference to a bag crisps.

That's interesting just reading your post as I've always eaten healthy yet got diagnosed with diabetes type 2 a year ago. My sugar reading was 48 which at the time was just over so I decided to cut out sugar completely. The problem was I've never cut out alcohol and last year I was drinking more than I ever have. The last readings 2 month ago was 57 so they put me on metformin which I was really annoyed at. Looks like I need to ditch the drink and you cut out the soft drinks and snacks. The only advice I've been given is from a friend with it and she says try to only eat carbs if it's not processed. No white bread, white rice , white pasta . She always has a spoonful of olive oil in a morning. It keeps her blood sugar level. Oh and she doesn't drink and she lost belly fat which all put her in remission
