Supply issues Tiopronin

Hi All

I have sourced my Tiopronin from the Royal Free for many years but they are currently unable to find any supplies. Does anyone know of any source with current stocks?

Hi, I am under Coventry University Hospital care and I have been without since January. I have read that the German supplier has stopped production, but I am not sure about it. I suspect it is more an issue with importing it or its cost.

I had a similar problem a few years ago with Penacillamine also used for cystinuria. I phoned the manufacturer direct to suss the position they were changing over to make only smaller tablets. It did work through the system eventually but it was this time of year and did make me wonder if there was a payment issue. I never use Boots to get prescriptions they were the worst for sourcing what I needed. Good luck.

I am hearing there are supply issues with penicillamine also. My understanding is there is a manufacturing issue.

I have twice had a problem getting penicillimine tablets. A couple of years ago and then January this year. Was told they would not be back in stock until April. I am under Kent hospitals and spoke with my consultant. She was able to sauce some from another hospital for me. Best thing is to get in touch with your consultant who then maybe able to help. Hope you get some soon.
