Read an article from Israeli newspaper," Haaretz', of April 4th saying that scientists from Tel Aviv University found that the supplement delays the advance of degenerative brain disorders, and names a form of PD as one on their list. Right, I agree, would check with the Neuro before taking anything from a health food store.

on the contrary....i wouldn't trust any neurologist to know much at all about supplements. that would be rare. educate yourself (easy on GOOGLE). Read WebMD, read a crosscheck for side effects and interactions of any supplement on a good drug site; read Mayo clinic and other sources to find out the establishment opinion, read LEF.org for articles, go on PureCaps.com and look up any supplement and read the academic information on the product (you will not be able to order anything without an account but you can read about their products). use your powers of discernment based on what you learn to decide who is a good authority and follow their advice. get a good Naturopath to keep all systems up and going to avoid the dreaded 'anchor effect'. take the info you have learned to your neurologist who will NOT know. If he is in the US, he will probably not tell you because if you use a product he recommends and have negative results, he will be open to litigation. if you ask him about a product, he might agree or disagree with its use but will not spontaneously volunteer that information.

PS is phosphatidyl serine is a common supplement which is helpful in many ways to everyone, particularly people with memory problems.

I never understand people who get on this site and ask us what a product is without even Googling it first and doing some of their own research. Some of the totally uninformed answers from responsdants show the pointlessness of doing this. Please, folks....inform yourselves!!! Contribute your personal experiences, ask questions, give advice....all that good stuff but use your brain. if you can write a letter to this site, you can do some research.

I attended a PD Symposium Saturday. A highly qualified nutritionist spoke about supplements. She's very skeptical about supplements. Artificial ingredients, conflicting with PD meds, and overhyping the benefits are some of her reasons. Consult your movement specialist, neurologist or pharmacist before taking any supplement.

would you eat a dinner prepared by a nutritionist? i wouldn't. i never saw one who knew 1) how to cook, 2) anything about the importance of fat in the diet [most are still in the 'cholesterol' stage of knowledge] or 3) much about supplements. this one you heard obviously doesn't know much about PD. did she tell you older folks and those with Pd probably need a cholesterol level no lower than 175? did she say that PD is often referred to as 'premature aging' and that special supplementation is necessary for that condition? did she tell you that old saw that we get what we need from food? artificial ingredients? find good supplements. overhyping? get a SpectraCell test and find out what you need and what you don't. no point in flushing unnecessary stuff down the toilet.

Read.
