Ok gonna be straight forward I am constip... - Cure Parkinson's
Ok gonna be straight forward I am constipated and nothing works. Any ideas
I find that muesli with All Bran works.
I give my husband a cereal called "UNCLE SAM'S. I get it a wal- mart usualyl, but it's 'in a variety of stores.. I put it in his oatmeal, dry cereal, pancake/waffles. Just mix a few Tablespoonsto whatever you are mixing up..
In an emergency, keep a few fleet enemas on hand. A nice dose of milk of magnesia helps me when needed. If no action, repeat just once. But make sure you are near a pottie, it could turn to diarrhea. Once you get past the crisis, daily fiber laxative is good if it is a chronic problem. Try to keep it under control, because you don't want hemerhhoids or an impact ion.
Recommendation from continence nurse 2 weetabix 2litres of water daily some excercise if possible. My husband is prescribed movicol which works well with him plus the above and fresh fruit. It's the medication of course that causes the constipationn so no way of getting rid of the cause, a pain in the b-m. Good luck x
I know this sounds silly but eating Kale ( in a salad, steamed with other veggies or liquified in juice) works wonders. It is quick and natural. Just beware to start with a fist sized amount. Too much and you will be living in the bathroom!
Punes or dried apricots work for me.
i agree larry, i eat 8 to 10 dried pitted prunes after supper. and it really works.
no problems at all. eat too manny , cut back the amount. or not enough, increase the amount. i like del monte's . to me they are the best. depends on what you had for supper, in amount.
3 to 6 prunes, and a glass of pear or prune juice before bedtime. Drink at least 2 litres of pure water everyday. mornings have a large glass of pure water with a table spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in it at room temperature, also, have a blood test to see that your, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, levels are all within "normal boundries" otherwise you may need supplements, and sit out in the Sunlight for at least 20 minutes per day for your free Vitamin D.
For the years that I worked in a hospital setting in my early career as a PT, when patients would complain about constipation I would recommend that we give them their bill... it would certainly move their bowels.
Runes, fresh fruit ,excersise ,adding fiber and natural veggies, including sale and other green leafy foods. I think because we take the meds so often it's hard to get a regular again. when exercising keep those muscles in mind. one we do in a group PD work out class. is to stand tall legs together tightening your core, buttocks pressing knees together then pulling your toes off the floor hold for 5to10 seconds release and repeat. remember to have a chair or something close if needed for balance.
Prune juice and dried apricots works for me. Concentrate on controlling it with food rather than medication.
cut out all fibre for 2 weeks, then filter slowly increasing portions back after every 3 or 4 dys until you get to a comfortable level. Failing that, it's latex gloves and either enema every 2 days or manual evacuation.
but get a referral to the colorectal department at the same hospital as you go to for Mr P. they need to work together because it is part of your PD. They should also have the specialist nurses for bowel retraining (the last one is where i have just progressed to)
Good luck
Dried appricots worked for me but it was more of purging. My Neurologist and GP have prescribed 2 Senna Tablets at night with up to 3 sachets of Laxido (Movicol) daily
I now have full bowel evacuations and don't get that bloated feeling any more - it's wonderful - no pain, no fuss
drink 2 litres water a day;
have a fibre cereal and prunes every morning
; walk a lot bendy and twistring exercises
do howard shrykesn recover liver cleanse exercise 7 times night and morning; , see utube
avoid white flour ad gluten breads, keep off sugar

8oz glass of prune juice with fiber heated up in thr microwave. It is called the atomic bomb. Hope i works.
Beer or alcohol in general seems to work for me.
acidophilus is what works for me plus plenty of all bran and fruit and veg /salad
I have had the same, but when started to take this coconutoil witch is very good for the brain - just take the pure one (3 tablespoons a day) and exstra strong Magnesium/Kalicum; usually take one of them before go to sleep - now I take one in the morning too. When takeing Magnesium it shouldent be a problem with takeing too much - then you get diarea, but with kalcium I dont know - and that maked a big diffrence.
(Ananas is also good, but too little with only). I also take phylliumseeds in wather morning and evening.

prunes, etc. create pressure against an obstacle so i feel like i'm in labor. been there done that! what works better for me so far is 2 sennosides 2 or 3 times a week, breakfast have flax oil and aloe vera with orange juice, ground flaxseeds 1 tsp at least on cereal, lots of water, sometimes with lemon, beans, veggies and fruit, but NO BROCCOLI! IMagnesium at night. still have to use daily suppository, sometimes with mineral oil on it. Lack of motility. I am seeing a physical therapist for C and ab pain. She gave me some exercises. Gotta get my buns back. Wel;, you asked . P(
Constipation is a big problem. Not eliminating the toxins can lead to a feeling of utter exhaustion and sickness. My doctor advises to deal with it through prevention, not when it's too late. He said to eat fruits, roughage and take laxitives and stool softeners is if need be.
You could try the old fashioned southern way-- after every traditional feast---Christmas, Thanksgiving where we over indulged on food my mother would fix a big pot of "greens"-turnip,mustard,collard,kale and sometimes spinach. After a huge helping of the greens (with cornbread) we would without fail be cleaned out in one day. I bet it works for you.
Good luck.
Laxido usually works for me.
Exercise! Hydrate, cooked oat bran cereal, generally good diet, Citrucel. Hydrate. Exercise! The exercise and oat bran will likely help reduce cholesterol as well. I have slacked on the oat bran, but I have found these elements help.
Water.
A lot of it if you are already bound up. They say in my natural medicine book an 8 oz. glass
every 10 minutes.
And as a preventative: Water. I also take a calcium magnesium supplement. 1600 mg. of each. EASY on the magnesium, though. Start slow. It can cause diarrhea big-time, then you start swinging from one extreme to the other. Magnesium is a great thing though, it will help your sleep.
If you are already constipated and these don't work, Phillips Milk of Magnesia helps, but
don't get into a habit, or you will get into the swinging back and forth.
Good luck. I'm on here every day so let me know how you are. VERY common problem
and it's the meds.
I use prune juice, drink an 8 ounce glass each morning with breakfast. And since I started exercising regularly, problem is not as bad. Every now and then, gotta do the old enema. Neuro told me to try a stool softener, didn't really work.
mix some prune juice and some apple sauce with some bran cereal. Eat a couple tablespoons at a time. Works great
I agree re: magnesium -- 150 to 900 mg per day. I take 450mg per day. It also prevents headaches; no side effects.
So sorry you are having to deal with this. I had it so bad once I went to the ER thinking I was having an appendicitis attack. I found th at popcorn and apples work for me. I amsure you can find some fruit that would work for you. I also try to keep moving or standing upright as often as possible. Also check your stress level and concentrate on your body muscles. Are you tightening them or are you relaxed? FUnny thing, but when I go shopping and pushing my cart day dreaming, I need to go immediately. Where do you relax?.
Drink plenty of water. I also have half a tin of figs in juice if possible, if not in syrup, does the trick for me.
Nothing I ever tried worked. I increased fluids, fiber, exercise. I took miralax, senakot, senna s, you name it & i likely tried it. I am a nurse by profession (retired) Lo & behold I finally tried Probiotics specifically nature's bounty chewable probiotic Acidolphyllus bifidum. I take two everyday. like a miracle for me!!!! I hope this helps someone.
thankyou everyone for your comments its all helping
I was dosing myself up with high fibre cereals, Senokot - up to 4 extra-strength, Dulcolax, Laxido - could still wait 4 days for a result. Then got worried about having to have an ileostomoy bag - so decided to stop and just eat normally and exercise a bit every day. BUT the MAGIC INGREDIENT was surely DOMPERIDONE. A little white pill I was prescribed to stop me feeling sick as I increased my Ropinirole dopamine drug - and I had stopped taking it as I wasn't feeling sick any more. But other users have also said this little miracle drug speeds up digestion and helps the food to exit as it should. And it IS a prescription drug in the UK. It's changed my whole feeling about medication - more than the Parkinson's drugs have. Less obvious effect from taking them.
I FIND A GOOD RUB OF BACK AND BUM WORK BETTER THAN ANYTHING YOU PUT IN YOUR MOUTH .

I have problems with candida because of slow bowel and therefore can't go cereal and prune route. Chinese herbal to detox liver, Da chai Hu Tang and Chine rhubarb, Da Huang have been a great solution. Got from my acupunturist but can find online.
I use senna tea which I get on line constipation is a real pain and no doctor I have seen can suggest anything except to drink a lot of water every day. hope this helps the brand of tea I get is called Laxatee but be warned it is quite strong!! all the best Sylviaxx
I had bad constipation for more than 10 years, nothing worked out, till I found this website: constipation-relief.net.
Just put it on my navel, after 30 minutes, I went to restroom without pain and any other discomfort.
The website promise 6 month return if not work, and if you don't have money, just give them address, they will ship the products for free.
Try, you will see! hope this can help you.
I'm here to see comments. Because my constipation is crazy. Daily, I eat Kale, veggies, steamed, healthy foods, I take triphala. In powder form. I eat small amounts of aloe vera. I take Psyllium husk. I drink water . . . . Yeah, I do coffee enema and I can't poop naturally when I am on them. I stopped coffee enemas, because small hard stool became no stool at all between enemas. I'm not sure if the writer of this question is in my boat, and I can see that this post is five years old. But when I say nothing works, nothing works. . . . My dumb ass still trying to find something natural. So i am on probiotic and I've cut out all grains. crossing my fingers to see if this helps my ibs. Still eating fruits, veggies and legumes for fiber
