Does anyone experience painful cramps and... - Cure Parkinson's
Does anyone experience painful cramps and catches in your leg?
Not my leg, my arm. It is the famous rigidity.
Yes I do ,It's the most painful thing and last a long time usually in the back of my leg .This is different from rigidity.
I get cramps similar to what you describe when I fail to stay hydrated. Try increasing your fluid input. Cramps can also be caused by a potassium inbalance, (shortage)
Good luck
I found out I wasn't drinking enough water with my medicine, Sinemet. A glass of water with each med doasge help allot! My arms and right foot cramp so bad it would bring tears, so my Neuro prescribed TIZANIDINE 2 MG a muscle relaxer helps, I take a night before bed, Husband said I look glassy eyed when I take them during the day. Of coarse be careful this can causing sleepiness and I can sleep easily during the day because of meds already. Cramps are also a sign of to much medicine and have you blood check before taking and extra potassium or supplement. Some things don't play well with our meds. Good Luck, Cramps are the pits, Kadie
Hi Kadie, Yes I have had leg (calf) and ankle and toe cramping for a long time! I take two baclophen (Muscle relaxers) at bedtime and drink lots of water! Sometimes I add the sugar free Cystal Lite to it for some flavor if I get tired of just plain water. Only get cramping now occasionally! Talk to your doctor of course! I eat a banana for potassium everyday too! Hope this helps!
Blessings,
Carol
My husband has just started getting cramps in his right PD leg and they must be extremely painful because it almost brings him to tears. I usually give him some Advil but didn't know what caused them. Sometimes if I even just touch his leg he winces. I never thought about lack of water but I will try getting him to drink more fluids. He also just had his Sinemet dosage upped so thought that might be it.
i have dystonia in my left inner thigh which affects my walking and causes pain from knee to lower left ab. It's hell when I'm trying to walk. Last night I thought I'd never get to sleep because both legs were on fire. Dystonia is not really a cramp. Just inappropriate muscle stiffness, I would say.
i've been getting them often also. i take on trazadone at night [also a muscle relaxer. ]
and they are less severe. but still painful. it can happen almost anywhere . feet, toes, arches. calves, arms etc.
my nose has escaped the pain of a cramp. no muscle there.
,
Yes definitely before when i was working on a retail shift for 12 hours long. Your situation is possibly caused by poor blood circulation in legs- mine was as well but managed to stop feeling such cramps, catches by wearing Bonvolant compression socks throughout day, and even when sleeping on certain nights because compression socks can help improve blood circulation and relieve muscle tension.
Remember to choose the right brand of socks because of the differing pressure (as exerted by the compression socks) because too high a pressure is not suitable for long hours of usage and may cause you to experience 'suffocation' and will not be able to help you alleviate cramps.
