Hi there,

If you look back over 'questions' on this site you will find this is one of the most common complaints/conditions arising from PD. It can be due to fluid retention from meds (antagonists such as Ropinirole) or changes in the way we stand or walk, or to clenching of the muscles of the feet. Apparently as it is so common consultant podiatrists choose to ovelrook it. I'm seeing one now as he pain in my feet is making me nervous which makes me unstable which could lead me to fall......this is 'free' treatment as I'm in UK.

Edema seems to be a problem which most PWP experience. Causes vary. As for the "bottom of the feet " pain, it feels like there is no padding tissue (flesh) between your bones and the pavement. The only thing I have ever found that helps is, (the obvious), arch supports and foam padding.

Good Luck,

Pain in the feet quite probably just corns, lump of hard skin that protrudes inwards rather than as a flat layer on the surface. Very small but very very painful. Half hour appointment to the chiropodist and all could be well.

Or perhaps Plantar Fasciitis - check the link below

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant...

Peripheral Oedema in ankles / feet. Very common problem that is mentioned as a side effect to Pramipexole / Mirapex and probably other Dopamine agonists.

May be caused by "heart failure" which is not as bad as it sounds. I only recently discovered is just the heart not pumping with full efficiency. So nothing like a heart attack which is as bad as it sounds.

I wear medium compression stockings, and the swelling subsides. The compression athletic stockings allow me to walk, play golf and exercise.
