Since most Dr's have no idea what each individual needs are, experiment. I would humbly suggest seeking a sleep aid, which L-dopa is not!
I would suggest speaking to your Neuro before doing anything! Especially do not take any over the counter of anything! Could interfere with other meds. I take stalevo every 3-4 hrs throughout the day. And bedtime I take that with 1- sinemet, 1-baclophen, 2 1/2 chlonazapan. I sleep great all night (as I well should) with all that unless I get cramps in my feet and ankles! And that happens often! But I do have the DBS on one side only! Hope this helps!
i take 8 co-coreldopa 25/100 daily. the medical view my neuro gave me is that one tablet will peak at four hours, and 2 taken together will peak around 6 hours, so i stage mine to cover the full 24 hours.
6.00 am 2 x co-coreldopa, and 1 x 50 mg domperidone
10.00 am 1 x co-coreldopa, and 1 x rophinerole SR 8 mg,
2.00 pm 1 x co-coreldopa, and 1 x 50 mg domperidone
6.00 pm 1 x co-coreldopa,
10.00.pm 2 x co-coreldopa, 1 x 50 mg domperidone, 1 x 2mg rophinerole & 2 x vitamin capsules (prescribed)
3.00 am 1 x co-coreldopa,
it woeks quite well for me and i sometimes get to sleep through the 3 am pill. i find i need to use it as top-up at the 2pm dose next day
works for me, and there's always BBC Radio 2 for fun during the boring bit of waiting for them to kick in
Thanks allowercase give it ago . Last night at 8 pm took both my rotigotine patch off . went to bed at 10 30 pm HAD THE BEST 4 HOURS SLEEP in 18 years . Going to bed I took
1 ibuprofen 400mg 1 clonazepam 0'5mg 1 co-beneldopa MR 25/100 mg .This morning got up had a pee came downstairs Made my self a coffee which i drank then when't back to bed . Although i could move ,could not get back to sleep, the coffee had kick in.
Up again . 1 co-beneldopa before it had kick in put 2 patch back on . FEEL GOOD TO GO.
my neurologist says it's very important for pwp's to sleep . the meds don't work as well if you don't sleep. I take klonopin plus valerian and melatonin. sleep 6 to 7 hours. if i have to stay up for some reason, yes, i have to medicate every 3 4 hours. I take a half sinemet CR at bedtime. I'm fine in the morning
Hi guys I am on the same regime as you Madopar CR every 3 to 4 hours around the clock medicating. Do any of you "go off" unexpectedly or experience any dystonia or dyskenisia?
i get sleep during the day, 8.30 to 10.30 after the dog's 3 mile walk, and 2.00 to 4.00 after her 2 mile walk. i would need the sleep after the exercise anyway.
How do I manage . I tell myself to get a grip , talking to my self help . I live on my own ,if I didn't talk to myself . I would go mad . Last night I had a night mere for hell . IF YOU TAKE YOUR PATCH OFF DON'T GO TO SLEEP WITHOUT TAKING CLONAZEPAM FIRST.
Pain, Stiffness, Insomnia are all tolerable because of medical marijuana..PD is still there but I can function a whole lot better with it then without and I do not have to take a medicine chest full of drugs on a daily basis just a few Sinemet….
I take madopar every 90 minutes from 7am to 10pm. 900 mgs of l-dopa per day in all. Every 3 hours 125 mg madopar, plus Entacapone. At the half way point between I take 62.5mg. i.e. I'm taking madopar every 90 minutes. Makes eating tricky but as long as I stick to this I'm reasonably ok - as well as I can be after 14 years.
I'm about to be my consultant's first patient to start Xadago (safinamide) which might prolong the on time and reduce the need for the 90 minute boost. Or possibly allow me to reduce all doses to 62.5. I'll post again when I know whether it's working.
I, too, have dystonia in my feet. If I slept the whole night through, I'd be afraid I couldn't walk when I woke up. So, I set my alarm for 3 1/2 to 4 hours and get up and take another dose. I do that twice each night so I sleep for a total of 7-8 hours. It's a drag, but it's better than not being able to walk when I wake up. I do use a special alarm clock that is so sweet. (How often is an alarm clock called sweet?) It's made by Now and Zen (now-zen.com) and is a long-resonating, perfectly tuned acoustic chime. It chimes every 2 minutes or so at first, then the chimes get closer together so after about 10 minutes, it's constantly chiming, but still with a beautiful sound.
I do go pretty much around the clock, with a heavier dose before bed - otherwise RLS sets in.. (that is what would keep me up). I take 4.5 C/L 25/100 every 24 hours with mucuna thrown in as an adjunct. As far as other meds go, I add in 5 mg/day selegeline and that’s it. That takes me about 4 hours solid ‘till I awake. Then I take few sips of my C/L mucuna mix which takes me the rest of the way. Lots os supplements and exercise. Stable for now, but looking for the next best thing. When my brain dopamine slips, thats when rls kicks in and that is the only sleep problem.
