Did anybody tried Bowen therapy? Thank you! - Cure Parkinson's
Did anybody tried Bowen therapy? Thank you!
Yes I have but I feel I get more benefit from craniosacral therapy and Scenar.
I tried craniosacral therapy as a student's subject. It was deeply relaxing but developed a sudden hernia which necessitated surgery. Sort of put me off continuing, but it was free so
yes i have tried it but i didn't get much from it but thats not to say that you wont
I am interested in the Bowen therapy. I tried this very successfully a few years ago for leg pain, before I had Parkinsons. I have read that it could be beneficial to Parkinsons but even though I asked this question some time ago, I did not really receive any positive replies. Hope you do better.
I've been having Bowen therapy treatments for about 10 months. It alleviates the pain, but doesn't take it away completely. I was going every week for about 5 months, but now I'm going every other week. It seemed to work better for me when I had a treatment every week, but it's about a two hour drive to get there, which wore me out. It seems to be doing something to relieve some of the rigidity and loosen me up. I usually feel great when I leave after the treatment but it only seems to last for about 5 days. I was making some improvement for awhile, but now I seem to be at a standstill.
He does have another patient with Parkinson's that has made more progress than I have. She went from a walker to using a cane or sometimes walking without any assistance. She also has been able to cut back on her medication. I think she's had Parkinson's for about 8 years. I've had Parkinson's for around 14 years, and I'm not on any Sinemet. I think that might be the reason.
The therapist that does my treatments is a friend of mine, so he is doing the treatments for free. I think they usually cost about $35-$40 per treatment. He is a retired MD and he was so impressed with Bowen therapy that he took training to become a therapist. He also teaches others how to do the treatments now. His name is Mitchell Mosher and his website is DrsDiscoveries.com. John Coleman is also someone you might want to google for more information.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask if you have anymore questions.
Blessings.
I found your reply really interesting. If I could only get some pain relief for my back pain, I would be pleased. I have read the John Coleman book and try to follow it as much as I can. He mentions another aqua treatment alongside Bowens. Have you tried this? I live in the UK and the person who was my Bowen therapist has now retired. Your reply has emcouraged me to look for another one.
I'm glad that you were encouraged. If you had good results with your last therapist then it's worth another try. I took John Coleman's E-Class and read some of his book. I'm also doing the aqua treatment. They seem to help, but it takes awhile to notice their effect. It's a very gradual improvement. The aqua drops are relatively inexpensive. I live in the USA. I could't find the receipt, but I believe that I ordered through Zero Point Healers. If you google it or John Coleman and Aqua drops there should be some information that will help you.
Blessings.
I am after two sessions,I feel diffrent, but I do not know is is better or worst .I will wait next session.
No but in looking on line to find out what it is, it involves the fascia (google it, it's good for you) and a good massage therapist can stimulate and break up the fascia. I recently went through a series of physical therapy specializing in abdominal pain. She really went to town on my tum, and gave me homework and a diagram. I am noticably better, off the xanax and slightly more regular. I would continue going to her, but (a) it's in Times Square and the crowds drive me nuts and (b) have to pay out of pocket and getting reimbursed is taking forever ! Drink a lot of water after each treatment. (Pilates also addresses this) My neuro was so excited to learn of this
