DBS

Hi I was wondering if anybody has DBS at Salford Royal Infirmary{Hope Hospital} and if so would you be willing to talk over your experience with me.I am being considered for it. Thanks

Ask your PD nurse if someone who has had DBS would be willing to have a chat with you.Sorry I can't be much help but my husband had his done at Newcastle General in 2004.

Everyone has different experiences with DBS and there are positives and negatives.Ask your PD nurse as many questions as you like they will answer them openly and honestly.If you are not seeing a PD nurse yet then ask to be referred.

I had it done two years ago. people I spoke to had nothing but good things to say about it.

You Tube videos looked promising. I was really excited about it. I had the surgery JUNE 10,,17 and 24 my batteries were turned on JULY 5 i fejt okay. I slept in the recliner becau\se my wire hurt jat ny bead in a pllow. On August 9,2010 I was merried. By October I could not walk. I had the batteriesturned down some tat helped. But when I got home y used the remote to turn them off, then I could walk. over the last two years I have progressed dramaticaly. The only time I use dbs is whenI have dyskinisia, it stops it insantly. I also tur tgen on now when I go to bed no more insomnia ! Of course in bed when the batteries are on I cannot move til I turn them off .. So, I don't think I'll have brain surgery unless there is a cure.
