BIG therapy helped me control my freezing. Also, when I do occasionally freeze, like Jillann says, I count to 2 and concentrate my mind on moving and I usually do.

I have a U-Step walker. Maybe only available in USA. It has a button to push that gives you a red line across the floor. Gives you something to move toward or pull your legs over to get going again! Wonderful! Invented by a man who's wife had PD! Will not easily tip and heavy duty! Too heavy for me to lift into my car. So I just use it for home and have lightweight walker for going out!

Blessings,

Carol

I'm lucky enough to have a u-step walker too, but I just wondered what medication anyone took for sticking if any.

Even though I have the walker I still find I stick. Mine doesn't have a laser so my husband is going to fix on a laser beam to see if that helps. Sometimes I just get up and walk normally which is odd but then I walk into another room and I cant move for ages, it's so frustrating.I have a football which I kick inside the walker and this helps Like you I don''t take it outside , I just use a walking stick and hang onto my husband. for dear life.

The kicking is a great idea!! And the laser will help! I see my Nuero the 31st of this month! The freezing is a new thing for me! So I will discuss it with him then! If my husband is with me and he can carry my purse, etc..I hang on to him, also, and use a cane! If he's not with me I use a lightweight walker that I use just for going out! And I just got a prescription from my doctor for a wheelchair, to use when I get the freezing and before my meds kick in! And to use if I want to go out to shop or museums, etc... I want to continue walking and not be in a wheel chair, but to give me the freedom to go places and not worry about how far I would have to walk!

Blessings,

Carol

The trouble I find with having someone to help is that they are close enough to give you that tight space feeling that is part of being stuck. Apparently this getting stuck in confined spaces thing is because as a PD person you loose the ability to judge the next appropriate step size. So can't judge how big a step to take so don't take a step - result, mild panic and fear.

Madopar (Levodopa and Benseraside) same as Sinemet really.

When this wears off I am at great risk of falling and get stuck, what seems like all the time.
