Another day another dollar ... sigh. Spreading the word about PD can be tedious, as been said my many on this site that unless you look ill you are not ill. If you are not shaking you can't have Parkinson's.
For me today has been a good day, I have been out without my cane and I have not fallen once, I did however meet three prospective clients and two couples who are friends of a friend.
So when, if ever, do you bring up the P word?
I would like to let clients know in good time in case the Devil's Puppeteer makes a move and I can't deliver. This however is a very negative attitude and a good way to loose clients so, unless they read this blog, two prospective clients went away with bundles of literature and a promise to let me know as soon as possible whether I had got the commission or not, but did not know I was a pwp. The third client to be came to see me later in the day at my cottage not in my shared office. Unlike the office, my home has a few adaptations to make my life a little easier, especially in the bathroom, so when she went to use the bathroom my client noticed the extra rails and grap points I have installed. Having had some experience with disability she asked if they were for someone in the family, when I told her no I lived on my own and they were for me she was surprised. We then talked for an hour about PD and my problems and when she left I had the commission.
The two couples that I met later this evening had been primed about my condition and they both reacted in the same way the men looked like they wanted to run while I had a good conversazione with their partners.
Funny old world.
