Why is it you can not sleep? Pain? Anxiety? Sleep apnea? Hypotension? Hormone dysfunction - low testosterone? Medication side effect? ...
FYI : Diazepam / Valium = same medication.
Eating a diet rich in tryptophan and or melatonin can help to elevate mood and restore restful sleep.
Take care. Carry on strong.
Klonopin = clonazepam. My neuro says valium not good for PD. Good suggestion.
Nouska .
Having had PD for around twenty years most of which I have not sleep't for more than

Always best to consult with your doctor/s what is nutritionally recommended and correct for your individual situation / PD or PDP / medication combo.
Many patients eat proper whole food nutrition but then their prescribed pharmaceuticals interfere with the absorption / availability of nutrients.

My husband was prescribed Clonazepam looked at the side effects and decided not to take it as he had some of them anyway and didn't want to increase the effects. Adjustments made to some of his meds, jiggling them about and now doing ok sleeing not too bad at present most nights, but has the odd night up. satin sheets to help him turn in bed has been good.

5 months ago at my last neurodoc appointment they put me on clonazepan - something to do with REM sleep. I got home on the Monday afternoon, and dutifully started taking them, and calculated which existing dose to fit them in with.
Tuesday morning, I was very nauseous, unable to balance, and was experiencing all sorts of niggling little other symptoms. By 3.30 pm, I was ready to curl up and die. Phoned my GP, who told me to stop the clonazepan and tell UCLH at the next appointment.
Not something I would recommend even for the mother in law.
In all, there were 9 possible side-effects, and the GP calculated that I had 7 of them.
I'll send you the redundant bargepole.

I've taken Klonopin .5 (same as clonazepan) at bedtime for restless legs for about a year and to my knowledge have had no problems. Of course by now I take so much medicine I don't know what drug causes what.
Yes, i take clonazapam @ bedtime with low dose amitriplinev& slowrelease levadopa.
I usually sleep 5 hrs straight! (Also, I find sateen sheets are very helpful to turn myself
Thank-you for your witty answers .I know they are sending me mad since i have start't
them . I have lost my girl-friend and my domestic not the same day bur the same week.
I keep looking at Angels .sateen sheets don't you ever end up on the floor ?

I have asked my Consultant and my GP for something to help me sleep - see my post on Sleep Patterns, but both are reluctant to do so. I take a low dose of Diazepan for anxiety, nothing to do with Parkinsons, though not on a regular basis. At the moment I am altering my times of going to bed to try and fool my body into getting into a better sleep pattern. My GP suggested I try this so will see how it goes.
I take .5 clonazepam, 530 valerian, 3 mg melatonin. The melatonin gives me nice dreams. They used to be nightmares about my late ex but I decided it was just the male side of myself so now he behaves. i'd like to get off the clon. as have to pay out of pocket over $90 for 3 mo supply. For bedtime snack I have small amt of plain yogurt, applesauce and maybe a few walnuts. For daytime pain I take xanax. I try not to nap as wake up with ab pain. But sometimes can't help it.
Mine put me on "Temazepam 30mg" that never worked. I have tried the herb's. Still no results. I'm lucky to get more than 3hr at a time
Temazepam has a very short half live they may put you to sleep but not for long . I thought they had stop't them ?It must be 10 year since i have herd of them .do you live in the uk

PS you can only get them if you were on them before 2006.
Anybody experiencing night-time severe incontinence? Or any incontinence? How do you manage it?
It's like a faucet with no stops.
None during the day. I go every 3 hours whether I have to or no.It seems to have gotten worse since I had a Botox injection. I have ALOT of dystonia.
We're managing, my husband gets up anyway twice a night and now wakes me so I can go,
and EVERYONE is saying "do your Kegels," which I am.
Nobody talks about this.
I've just about had enough of this disease! I've had two DBS surgeries, had to find a new progammer; foot adjustments (orthotics); eye exam (Doc says there's a huge change)etc.
etc. PD is lying in wait for me. saying,"how can we further get her?"
I take Klonapin with great results.
Freezing alot, have had falls.
Neurontin saves the day——Mood stabilizer, pain management, and with little side effects.
My neurologist prescribed Clonazepam to address acting out dreams in my sleep. Seems to work ok....usually get good night's sleep.
