Hi everybody I just had a visit to my Nerogy and prescribe me Comtan does any one taking it?
Does any one taking Comtan?: Hi everybody I... - Cure Parkinson's
Does any one taking Comtan?
I am taking Stalevo which includes Comtan No problems!
Before Staevo I was Taking Sinemet and Comtan. With the exception of very bright yellow urine No prblems
yes, I do accompanied by carbo/levo dopa. It extends the medicine to work longer
(I am told) make sure you eat either before, with, or after taking meds.....can give upset stomach which can cause vomiting at least it does for me.
I stopped taking it because it did not extend the sinemet. It did not work for me.
Yes with c/l. It's ok but it didn't seem to extend the c/l much which was the purpose. Finally stopped and didn't see any difference... Still only got five hours when c/l was supposed to last 6. Just went on the new Rytary a few weeks ago and it seems really good....more evenly metabolized and lasts 8 hours unless there is something unusual going on.
Hi Donzim, I just started with 1/2 pill, along w/C/L I will see if it works for me?
I guess my next step if it doesn't work will be Rytary.
Thank's for your input
I used comptan several years ago. It was neither good or bad. Went back to sinemet/azilect. Now I am on Rytary. I was really afraid to try this drug. I am almost 8 yrs pd. New stuff scares me since I am so pill sensitive. Write back please and give me the details on Rytary-been on it a month. thanx
Well you have been on Rytary about the same as my husband Don. So far, so good and since comtan has cardio complications, I think it is better for us to have changed. Don had afib while on it so who knows if there is any cause and effect? Rytary seems to last the full 8 hrs most of the time. For Don who is now anemic (probably from the aspirin and blood thinner following the stent), Rytary doesn't allow iron supplements and I don't know exactly what to do about that. RBC test next week should tell us.
Good luck on the Rytary!
I have been on Comtan for about 4 years w C/L (20yrs PD). At first extended sinemet, but now not so sure. No negative side effects other than being hard to swallow horse-pills!
