DVLA COME UP TRUMPS!! Credit where it is due.

Those of us who have been through the trauma the of 3 year drivers' licencing process have written, shouted & wept buckets on this & other blogs.

I have been one of those so now I feel I must rectify the situation.

My new licence was due to start on 24th April. For reasons unknown I received the renewal paperwork almost 3 weeks late. I immediately contacted DVLA to let them know & got the standard letter (email) reply. I saw my PD nurse who helped me fill in & countersigned the forms, my consultant & my GP. I waited a couple of weeks then contacted DVLA by phone, email & letter to ask whether they had received the paperwork & to explain my distress at the prospect of not being to drive. My new diving licence arrived only 2 days late!!! Perhaps next time we pick up a pen in anger we should stop & think when last we wrote & thanked someone helpful.

After being advised by my doctor I informed DVLA the week I was dx'd. There was the usual writing back and forth to/from my GP but six weeks later was told by DVLA that their was no restrictions on timeor vehicle already licenced to drive! Yipppee. Mind you that was 13 years ago. Is it 3 years for anybody now?

I also have to apply to renew my licence every three years and can only drive a car. I only ever drive when my meds are working, but this my choice. I could drive at any time, but feel that if I had a bump, even if it was not my fault, I could lose my licence and my freedom.

SO true. Please and thanks go a long way with a smile even if the recipient can't see it! :). I saw a senior on a bus wearing a neck brace punch a crabby lady who wouldn't let her off the bus! :o

Hello - I applied online for my Driving License renewal at age 70 (my birthday was end of July) 0n 30 May 2014. I sent numerous Emails containing Emails from my GP etc but it took them 2 months to send out medical forms to complete! The most annoying thing was that the letter accompanying the forms was stamped all over the place saying you must reply within 21 days.

I received a letter last week to say that they have contacted my Neurologist and will get back to me

I think the DVLA service stinks!!
