I'm glad you asked this as hubby who has parkinsons went to the opticians for a test on Friday and was told that his right eye muscle was pulling to the right so he has put a prism in the lens of his new glasses which he says will help focus. He seems to think it is due to the Parkinsons so I wonder if anyone else has problems. I wonder what problems you are having muttie

There was a post I did last week regarding tremors in the eye itself. My Neuro said my eyesight would improve with my PD med, Azilect, but I cannot tell it has. I have a very difficult time tracking on the computer or when reading a book. I use to read a book each month, I can no longer do this.

Funny - at my last eye appointment, my doctor told me my eyesight had actually improved also. Not that it was really bad to begin with. I find since the PD, my eyes tend to dry out sooner and become tired quicker.

Very much so!! Blurred vision, double vision, sensitivity to light. I blame them all on PD.

It definitely has for my mom. She's been to the eye doctor several times who just says it's the Parkinson's and there's nothing they can do. I got her a large-print crossword puzzle book but she can't even do that.

My Mom's retna was reattached before DXD with PD. She does have sensitivity to light and not blinking. We're watching for anymore changes to be sure nothing else is going wrong due to PD or previous condition or both.

Check your meds. Half of them say one of the side effects is blurry vision. Also check for cataracts.

My husbands eyes run constantly as well

i recently read a study that found tremors in the eyes of PD people. I would think that would cause blurred vision. Don't you?

YES I DO

My eyes run, at times. At first it was quite often.

I also had to have prisms put in my eye glasses. My eyes got much worse last year, but have stayed the say for over a year now.

There have been a few times when I feel my eyes tremble. I have also experienced uncontrollable blinking.

I've been told all of the above is from PD.

Now I know why I have so much trouble tracking lines on the computer! One thing I have found is to use spaces between comments that are longer than 3-4 lines.

A study, published Online First by Archives of Neurology, reveals that persistent eye tremors seem to be common in individuals suffering from Parkinson's disease (PD). Ocular tremors can prevent eye stability during fixation and results from the study indicate that precise oculomotor testing could provide an early physiological biomarker for diagnosing Parkinson's disease.

George T. Gitchel, M.S., of the Southeast Parkinson's Disease Research, Education, and Clinical Center, Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Richmond, Va., and his team explain:

"Although a number of studies describe various oculomotor abnormalities in subjects with PD, conflicts about the specific deficits remain."

The researchers conducted the study in order to examine oculomotor function in 112 individuals with Parkinson's disease and a group of 60 healthy individuals. Participants' oculomotor function was assessed during fixation, as well as while they tracked a moving target on a computer screen.

The researchers explained:

"The major finding of the present study was that using modern eye movement tracking, oscillatory fixation instability was universally seen in a large cohort of 112 patients with PD.

The fact that this behavior was universally observed in every tested patient with PD, including unmedicated patients, suggests that ocular tremor is a function of the disease process and not induced by medication."

Persistent ocular instability while fixating on a target was observed in all 112 participants with Parkinson's disease, compared with only 2 of the 60 healthy participants. In addition, the researchers found that oculomotor parameters were no different between individuals with Parkinson's disease on medication and unmedicated patients with PD.

The researchers conclude:

"All patients with PD exhibited persistent ocular tremor that prevented stability during fixation. The pervasiveness and specificity of this feature suggest that modern, precise oculomotor testing could provide a valuable early physiological biomarker for diagnosing PD."

There is a eye doctor who talks about vision and PD on Parkinson's Recovery Radio Show. You can googlel it Then pick the link that says Parkinson's Recovery Radio and blog . It's on page 2, about the 6th entry when you scroll down. It's called, "Vision Rehabilitation". I hope this helps.

yes, my close up vision got really bad, I even need glasses to text. My night vision has developed stars around lights.

The stars (halos) could be a sign of cataracts also.
