Am not sure whether you mean a dog trained specially for therapy or a regular pet. We have two dogs so I have to walk them and feed them whether I feel like it or not. They are such company and accept me as I am. The younger one is nearly two years old and quite lively and lovable. Somehow she has decided that she is my dog which is really lovely as she follows me round wherever I go.

No formal training for me or my dog. I rescued her from a shelter and she rescues me every day.. Good dog.…

My Gusty is a rescue dog, too - she gives me exercise walking and keeps me company every day - if I sit & read, she curls up in the chair with me - if I take a nap, she's right by my side snoozing away ... I've enjoyed her company for eight years ... don't know what I'd do without her ...

My beautiful golden retriever is my therapy dog. She's a 2 year old golden bundle of fur and tongue. She's not officially trained but she has me trained most of the time. She wakes me up when she has to go out and won't take no for an answer. She makes sure I have time to play each day by dropping toys at my feet throughout the day so I either bend over to pick them up and throw them to her or kick them out of the way, good for balance. She lies down beside me when I don't feel well to comfort me and gives me kisses all day. She's great when you're sad or depressed, who can resist those big brown eyes. My hope is I'll have her for a long time and always be able to care for her like she does me.

When I went to a physical therapy center that was just for neurological patients they had a trained dog. He was a great big golden retriever named Yates. I fell in love with him and I think he loved me too. His favorite treats were raw carrots, so I would bring him some every time I went to physical or voice therapy.

They closed down so I don't get to see him anymore. He had a special collar that he wore when he was working. I only got to work with him a couple of times.

It was when we were doing some walking exercises with balance. He also would retrieve things that I dropped. I miss him.

A service dog is being trained for me through Paw Pals Assistance Dogs. It takes two years to train them so he won't come to live with us until around Christmas 2013. Paw Pals met with me and my husband to determine my current and future needs. When he is trained he will be at my side to help prevent falls (brace), help me get up after a fall, get my husband or a phone on command.

My GSD Deacon is my therapy dog. He is very smart, loving and loyal. If I fall or am just having a bad day he is there to comfort me.
