If you're okay with sharing, what were your advanced symptoms?
From the time you were first diagnosed wi... - Cure Parkinson's
From the time you were first diagnosed with PD, how long did it take to progress into the next stage?
I would love to see a chart of what happens next.
From reading this blog I have discovered we are like snowflakes, no two alike.
Thank you DiCan...the quirkiness of this disease is why I'm interested, My Doctor and I are trying to determine a timeline between stages. He feels progression for the worse occurs fairly quickly within a six year time frame. I disagree with him, I believe few people, yes, they may progress quickly and others simply don't. progress at the same speed. I know the honeymoon is over for me and it took about nine years to progress to the next stage.
Hi Ton, Your doctor's crystal ball is broken. That is a rediculous comment for him to make. The best advice I can give you is forget all about stages. Think about how good a day you can have today. Tomorrow will come when it comes. It may not be your best day but hey you won't know until it comes so do not worry. One day at a time. I am PWP 13 years. Please rad my blogs when you have a day free. LOL
I do not think it is a simple answer - for instance I am at different stages for different symptoms/parts of the body. The speed and sequence has varied as well. when you add this individual variation of progression to the fact that each of us seems to progress differently from others, a timeline seems almost impossilbe.
I had to stop and think of my timeline or PD..it has been 6.5 years for me being diagnosed and I now fel that I am going into another stage and having to face new circumstances. Too I have had bouts of Denial along the way and have other medical problems with symptoms that are overlapping. I am more aware at this stage because it feels like I am having to address issues that before I would ty to just brush of and now feel that I can no longer do that. Hope that some of that info is helpful.....Casey in NH
yeserday i put a call out to my neuro here in france - and i am still awaitng a call back - since phoning him, i had a nasty fall in the bathriom and banged my nose agaist the wall and then crashed down on my knee and right hip - so i look like a boxer today !! I was calling him to tell him i feel no better and wbat him to DO SOMETHING - he told me 2.3 years ago when he dx me that the meds were capable of making me feel 60/ 80% better - well I am 60/ 80% worse than i was ---
SO MR NEURO - what are you going ti do if anything ??
Hi Ton--My observation (self) is that it progresses when I have surgery. Otherwise I have noticed no progression. I bounce back (well not bounce )
The worst progression was last year after bronchitis where I was stuck in house during ice storm. I am still recuperating from that. I lost so much muscle tone and I was trying different meds. NEVER AGAIN!
Hi Ton , as someone has already said , we are all individual so "progress" at differing rates (or maybe not at all) I was dxd 7yrs ago and still feel that my meds sometimes make me feel worse - i've never looked at the different "stages" and never intend to . Life's too short - seize the day !!
I have had PD for almost exactly nine (9) years. It is just now progressing into stage 2 of 5 where the other side of my body is starting to experience some symptoms. I took Azilect most of my first 9 years. Now I am taking Selegiline due to the lower cost. I am start the Qigong exercises that helped Howard Shifkye reverse his symptoms, and after just 3 weeks it seems to be helping. Exercise really does help.
