Mold?

Has anyone here dealt with getting out of mold and detoxing? If so, could you share your experience? PM is fine, or through this thread, i just dont want it to be a debate. I was diagnosed with CIRS years ago but didn't want to face it. I do now.

Support and experience with this is welcome...

I had an issue with high levels of mold that required a detox a couple of years ago. A urine test showed extremely high levels of Gliotoxin in my body. Normal levels are less than 200, but my level was 1,700. I saw a functional medicine doctor and she had me take Bentonite Clay, NAC(?) and do sauna daily. She knew what she was doing because a re-test after 6 months and my levels were zero.

I was fortunate that the functional medicine doctor I saw happened to at one time worked with a well known mold specialist. It seems that mold toxicity is a very poorly understood topic in the medical community, you really need to find a specialist.

My funct. Med. Doc. Diagnosed me, she knows what she's doing. My fault i didn't want to deal with it.

Did you move?

How did ypu handle PD meds while using bentonite clay?

We never determined the exact source of the infection. I did live in a home with water damage, but that was almost 10 years prior. I did an ERMI test (measures toxins in your home) on my current residence, but that came back clean.

At the time I was taking the bentonite clay I had not yet started taking any meds for PD.

Ah, more complicated here.

Lived in a house with mold, moved to an apartment a year ago, tested for mold, came back better than house but not clean. Tested again recently and came back with some bad mold.

Had a slow leak under sink that went undiscovered for a while, visible black mold...

10 years from diagnosis, taking meds.

Cholestyramine is a proven detoxifier of mold and related toxins.

How to do cholest. While taking pd meds?

Yes I do both - but away from each other. You'll need a prescription for Cholestyramine - it comes on powder form.

I've used it in the past. I dont see how to schedule meds, food and cholest. W/o them interfering w/ each other. What's interesting to me is that i didnt sleep much but yesterday but my mind indstead of ruminating, was gearing up to fight for myself and deal with the mold, and when i got up my pd symptoms were barely there despite lack of sleep. Does high motivation produce dopamine? Seemed so.

I'm not sure.

I just went through this. We had a mold test for our house and found that we had two different types of molds that were not dangerous. We had it remediated and then we were told to wipe everything down with hot water and Dawn dish soap. I tested positive for neurotoxic mold. The mold could be exposure from your past even 10, 20 years prior. You can pick up mold from anywhere. Because we are so sensitive and have Parkinson's you need to get rid of it because it's only complicating your issues. I have found a mold specialist that is helping me to drain it out. I am taking Chlorella and charcoal. Glutathione will help with the detox. It's been a very sensitive process and needs to be done slowly. I would advise a holistic doctor to help you. I think this is worth the fight and wish you all the best!

How do you take these w/o interfering with pd meds? I have a good doc. I have to move also.

I am not taking Parkinson's medication yet. I don't know how you would navigate that but I'm sure someone would know. Toxins are very common in people with Parkinson's. I know that John Coleman who recovered from Parkinson's used medication and drained all toxins and took care of all underlying issues in the process. He has a book out if you're interested. It's called "Rethinking Parkinson's Disease" Even if you have been on medication for a long time and continue to stay stay on it I think that removing the underlying issues can help you keep your medications at a lower level and you will feel better.

I also wanted to mention that there are many gentle ways to detox. For instance hot lemon water, Epsom salt bath, green juice Etc.. I think some of these things will help you feel better not worse. When you do do an aggressive detox it can be challenging.

I also have one and think it's the best! I have not been feeling good from detox so I've been told it's best to step back from it for a while. I'm looking forward to using it again soon!
