In addition to PD, I have osteoporosis , and scoliosis . I have been taking C/L only on Sunday mornings so I can sit still in SS and church. I was diagnosed in 2016 and due to potential SE, have not taken C/L daily As. I progress, it’s getting harder, but I am determined to avoid it if possible. I was curious if others had. The “Pisa”(leaning) syndrome? My MD wants me to try C/L to correct my posture. Has anyone been able to improve their posture? If so how?
And what SE do you see with C/L?? Are you building a tolerance ad having to increase the dose over the years?
Does anyone have any better options to C/L.
My tremors can be exhausting .
Thank you

Think of C/L as a supplement to replace the missing dopamine. The way I have seen people get into trouble with it here is when they get pushed to take inappropriately high doses. Be aware of how your body responds and take accordingly. Also, immediate release is prescribed by default, but some people do better with extended release. I have the leaning tower also. Also dx in 2015. PT has recommended that I literally push my head into place: but unlike you I have been on c/l for nine years. C/l definitely keeps me functioning but I suspect that the lean is caused by the disease progression.
In addition to medication there are exercises that can help with posture and balance. Some of them surprisingly are eye exercises but if you do a search on you tube with the topic of posture in Parkinson's there are a lot of videos showing these exercises in detail
FWIW I go to a "taichi for Parkinson's" class and there's a strong emphasis there on adopting an upright posture, not leaning forwards or sideways, and not too rigid. It does seem to help me. But I also take C/L.
