Seeking Good Brand(s) of Mucuna

Hello everybody, so many of you with long experience of using mucuna pruriens, I'd like to know what in your experience would be your top choices of mucuna brands... those most consistent, effective or potent, predictable, side effects, how well it worked in you and whether it gave you any problems or complications, that in your experience are especially worth using and what about them in your view made them (makes them too today, actually too) so preferable. I use NOW brand DopaMucuna. It works fine for me when combined with Sinemet. I use 2 DopaMucuna with 1/4 Sinemet 25/100 OR 1 DopaMucuna capsule with 1/2 Sinemet 25/100. Either combination gives me a dosage equal to 1 Sinemet.

If I take full doses of Sinemet it makes me too jittery. I seldom feel that way with DopaMucuna.

I like the convenience of capsules. I tried some of the powdered Mucunas but found them to be extremely strong and could never figure out a dose that was consistent. A few times I overdosed and felt like I was tripping on LSD.

I’ve been diagnosed 10 years and have been taking Mucuna for about 6 years.

My husband uses Clean Mucuna from British Supplements,a company based in Ireland.They do two strengths,he uses the lesser one,dosage is advised at 2 a day.He augments his sinemet dose with one capsule in the afternoon and one at teatime.British supplements don’t use any fillers or binders and send abroad if you are not in the U.K

I use mucuna from the NOW brand. Each capsule should contain 60 mg of levodopa. I requested a Certificate of Analysis from the supplier, which showed that each capsule actually contains 75 mg of levodopa

I have also used British supplements, I took 2 capsules daily. I found that the Mucuna kicks in quicker than Madopar and lasts longer.

I use a product called DopaBoost made by a nutraceutical company called Designs for Health. I take 1 DopaBoost and 1 Carbadopa/levodopa 25mg/100mg 4 times a day. It’s an excellent product. If you can’t find it online you can order it through me. Designs for Health only sells to Practitoners.

The thing about dopaboost is that includes other ingredients B6, which you’re not supposed to take with carbidopa so I take my dopaboost by itself

I used to use a product called dopa plus by pure encapsulation. When I started on carbidopa levodopa, I was advised to discontinue the dopa plus .how do you know how much of the Dopa Boost to take with the carbidopa levodopa?

Join FB group Mucuna Pruriens Parkinson for more info. I DO NOT take C/L and therefore need a higher dose of Mucuna. I started with NOW brand15%levodopa) but it had no effect on me. I use NutriVita Mucuna powder with vitamin C( mixed in a glass of water)and British Supplements Uptake Blend in capsules. Both are standardized to 99% levodopa. Barlowe’s is another brand that you might look into. It is standardized to 40% levodopa. The best way to start is to start with a low dosage and gradually work up. I take 3 doses a day on average approximately 4 hours apart.

Okay, good. I don't use Facebook so I'll have to figure a workaround or maybe chat with you a bit more for me Facebook is a non-starter and I know that puts me in a little bit of a disadvantage but nothing that can't be overcome some decent other way. I appreciate you letting me know the detail of what you're doing with the mucuna for sure! Good info I can put to use. PS the icons are because I have mother's pets that are really wonderful if you can do with them I highly recommend getting both. They each bring something and my wife agrees 100%, they're like kids and they remind you that there are bigger things in the world and wonderful comforts and friends in the world. If for some reason you don't have them or wouldn't want them, that's okay too! But you know animals have souls and they will go to heaven when we will definitely not, for cause! Hard to be a scientist and say these things, but you know, that's how it is. Anyway thanks again! 🐕🐈

I use Keter Wellness mucuma extract (20% L-dopa) with 140mg of levadopa per capsule). Made in the USA and sold online by Amazon. I've tried other brands (NOW and Doubletree), but this one works the best for me.

Hubby uses 40% MP, Barlowe's, with 1/2 carbidopa, a couple of times/d. With that, he takes low dose of Vitamin C. His on time is 5+ hours.

Yes, more or less. Today, He took MP at 10:45 am. He took his second dose at 5:20 pm. Remember, he takes it with carbidopa plus Vitamin C.

It really doesn't matter, chewable, spray, gummy, etc. We usually use liposomal spray, Raw Vitamin C GIVOL, 4 sprays is 1,000 mg. However, all it's required is a low amount Vitamin C, say 250mg after either Sinemet or MP. Vitamin C extends ON time.

The extract is 650mg X .4 = 260mg of Levodopa. To that, hubby adds either one or 1/2 t carbidopa.

I saw 15% (std. 50mg L-Dopa) Mucuna on Vitacost. Anybody used it? What's the consensus on its quality?

My late husband used powdered Mucuna from Detox Your Life in the UK. We tried many brands, but theirs was consistently pure and effective. Their customer service is second to none. I hope this helps.
