There is a long thread on this from a month ago:

New Study Results: Anti Parkinson’s Seaweed: Ecklonia cava - is shown to have the ability to protect against neurodegeneration healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

Study here: mdpi.com/2072-6643/16/13/2076

Test animals were pre-treated with the test substance prior to application of the toxicant: "Groups 2 to 4 received an oral administration of rotenone (10 mg/kg body weight) daily for 30 days, beginning 1 week after the start of the study."

As the news article says: "Could Prevent Parkinson’s Disease". Yes, one of many antioxidants that could prevent Parkinson's disease, by preventing the toxic cascade that begins with reactive oxygen species. However this has nothing to do with treating Parkinson's disease, because the test animals never had a chance to develop Parkinson's to begin with. Just one more bit of noise in the overwhelming noise to signal ratio of Parkinson's research. See here for more on the subject:

We don’t know that yet. It hasn’t been tested on PD subjects

Sure, anything is possible. Be that as it may, the study in question provides no evidence that this compound might be effective against Parkinson's disease. As such it is a waste of time and resources for all concerned. A distraction. Researchers who are serious about treating Parkinson's test substances on animals that actually have it.

Or induce it first in the test animals. Even then, who knows if the results are comparable.

True....I don't like 'prevent'. How would a normal person know if he's going to get Parkinson's, that he / she would start using this antioxidant to 'prevent' PD?
