Random bruise under my eye, any guesses?

I've spotted it today, and it's just a reddish purple dot the size of a pencil eraser. Nothing that I know of has happened with my eye. I have been taking more ibuprofen lately though because of my shoulder. But this is so random, I have never seen it before, and am curious if it's maybe some sort of PD thing? Did a search both here and doctor google, and the google results are too frightening (blod clot etc...) I don't have pain, but it was itching a whole lot this morning. Broken blood vessel?

Maybe a bug bite?

Doesn't appear to be. It looks more like a popped vessel.

I have read that sometimes recovery symptoms can show up as bruises. From old injuries that never healed properly and are working their way through their healing process as we work through our recovery process… from what I understand it could be from an injury that you remember, or not….

my son has had a reaction like this a few times. Once when 15 months old and again a couple of years ago at age 20. When he was a toddler it was after a chest infection and antibiotics and pamol. The second time was after a virus and taking nuromol (paracetamol/ibufrofen ).

The first time it was diagnosed as erythema multiforme. It faded after a week or so into small bruises then disappeared. It wasn’t considered serious.

Mel,

I have never encountered this as a PD symptom in the past 9 years post diagnosis and years of reading.

Visit a doctor and take an opinion, a GP would suffice. Take care.

Melanie,

I too started getting random purplish bruises a couple of years ago, with no recollection of having hit the area where the bruise occurred. However, when I was taking ballet classes, then Miss Peggy, who was also in the classes, and 15 years older than me (so she was 69 years old then) would sometimes have a random purplish bruise on her hand or arm. Since she was a nurse, and not worried about them (and her husband was a doctor), then I also didn't worry about them. I thought maybe it was something that can happen as you get older.

This is what I figured as well. But it's so prominent, I hope it fades away.

Ibuprofen can increase your risk of bruising, so it may just be due to ibuprofen.

Not likely anything directly to do with your Parkinson's.
