My husband had an episode of going stiff and UNCONSCIOUS the other day. EMTs took him to the hospital, still unconscious. Drs. did not explained to me what happened, in a way that made sense to me. Does this sound like anything to do with Parkinson's? I know about rigidity, now, but it doesn't make you go unconscious, does it? I thought he was having a stroke. I was not warned about rigidity.I'm trying to understand what happened. Thanks!

Prolonged Loss of Consciousness in Parkinson’s Disease
"prolonged loss of consciousness lasting for several hours that is neither EDS [Excessive daytime sleepiness] nor ordinary sleep attacks can occur in PD patients and indeed seems to be a symptom unique to PD. Case presentation: Eight patients with PD are reported who showed episodes of loss of consciousness lasting for 4-24 h that appeared to be deep sleep or a coma, and could not be roused even by strong painful stimuli. After four hours or more, they spontaneously resumed consciousness without sequelae."
No sign of infection? Hubbys neck got really stiff when he got a fever and they checked him for encephalitis, but it seemed to be just Pd + fever in the end.
what a relief! Hubby does have catatonic sleeping bouts from time to time too. Not sure if it’s similar…for him I think it sometimes is when the blood pressure tanks. IDK. Hope he keeps improving. Stay strong.
