My husband has used a percussion massager on his hands prior to meals for around 10 minutes and it seems to usually reduce tremors and make it much easier to eat. He is 75. His diagnosis was not until September 2021 but he in 2017 the doctor did not come to a solid conclusion as to whether he had essential tremor or Parkinson's. He lost his sense of smell in 2014.

so many similarities between us, have a percussion massager which I use on my neck, will try it as you suggest, thanks

no guarantees but it does seem worth a try and seems it is somehow related to the vibration

I found that the only thing to stop my tremors (very bad in hands, arms, right leg, head and internal) was to find the causes of my symptoms nd get well.

In my case, the causes were early trauma, long-term stress and loads to toxins from foods and environment.

Once I dealt with those, my tremor stopped.

My story is here - returntostillness.com.au/po...

So PD has psychological causation roots

crewmanwhite profile image
crewmanwhite in reply toPixelpixie

That's part of it. The effects of trauma and long-term stress have been known for many decades and well described by Professor Bruce McEwen in his studies and books. But there is always more than one cause per person and the practitioner's skill is identifying what started the process for each individual, then developing strategies to reverse the causes.

Copilot summarizes this "52 minute, brief" story thusly:

Here is a brief summary of the page:

- **Life-Changing Experiences**: John Coleman shares two profound experiences that shaped his life: his son Damian's battle with leukemia and his own diagnosis and recovery from Parkinson's disease.

- **Parkinson's Diagnosis**: In 1995, John experienced severe symptoms leading to his Parkinson's diagnosis[^1^][1]. He describes the physical and emotional challenges he faced.

- **Journey to Recovery**: John's recovery involved various treatments, including craniosacral therapy, homeopathy, and flower essences. He emphasizes the importance of support from healthcare professionals and loved ones.

- **Message of Hope**: John encourages readers to find their own path to wellness and celebrate their achievements, no matter how small.

I've been practicing TaiChi for 6 months now and it has helped a lot, especially the Chigong exercises.

I'm about 8 years in, also tremor dominant. I am not on any PD medications nor have I ever been. I've tried various supplement with no luck. I also tried various antidepressants/anti-anxiety meds, but all exacerbated my tremors. I found that hydroxyzine calms my tremors when I'm under stress. I take the hydroxyzine on an as needed basis. It's a prescription antihistamine used also for anxiety.

I have started this and it seems to be helping. It focuses on our fascia and removing stored toxins and trauma from the body.

I am not sure why I am having trouble posting the link but check it out.

How are you participating in this? It looks very hands on so I'm assuming not remotely...

Mostly I have been doing the exercises from their videos. They have a lot of content on YouTube and Instagram. I have started their 28 day reset. I also found a local instructor and I’ve attended a few of her classes.

PS: I don't take any meds. I do take mucuna a few times a day, and I have had days when I don't take any of it. But I have a severe shoulder injury, so that is the only reason I take mucuna to relieve some of the tightening of muscles.

Glad to hear that! I’m very grateful I found it. I’ve learned a lot about fascia and its role in a lot of illnesses. The exercises don’t take long but they are very impactful over time. I also like that they want to educate as many people as possible for free (or low cost if you attend an event). I plan to go to their Toronto event.

Tried one of the videos, and sadly, I will have to wait till my shoulder injury heals before doing it. But glad you shared it here.

I have tying to fix a long term shoulder injury for about 8-9 months, Achilles tendinopathies too. Rehab seems impossible - spent a fortune but zero improvement.

Found this that might shed some light:

I had froz n shoulder and then when trying to protect my shoulder on a crowded bus stood by the front door and it opened and squeezed me creating all sorts of partial tears.

Catlady47001 profile image
Catlady47001 in reply togomelgo

you could try to adapt some of the exercises. Also, prior to Human Garage I was doing block therapy which also focuses on fascia. Check out their website. Some of the blocking for the shoulder might help. Also, you can use the rolled up towel.

OK Google Block Therapy

gomelgo profile image
gomelgo in reply toCatlady47001

Thanks, well aware of block therapy, But it aint cheap sadly. And I definitely think a rolled up towel is way better than a wooden block ... for a parkie anyway. I truly believe many of us are the highly sensitive people both emotionally and physically. Appreciate the support though. 🙏

Catlady47001 profile image
Catlady47001 in reply togomelgo

yes I agree. It’s not cheap. That’s why I like Human Garage so much more and switched over. All the best to you!

My wife does take meds. However, the DIY vibrating glove has completely eliminated her resting tremor. From talking to a number of folks that have taken on the build challenge, everyone seems to get some benefit. For many, it is profound. They seem to work particularly well on tremor.

If you have the ability, or know someone with the ability, I suggest picking your favorite DIY path and doing a glove build.

I am not on meds and am working on recovery. I have some days with barely any tremor. Unfortunately it's not an easy fix. I follow J. Hadlock's work. If you have never been on meds you could dive into "stuck on pause" it is a free download. For those who have been on meds it's much more difficult

I'm with you on no meds for PD. I was diagnosed in 2020 with tremors, I'm 68 y/o and tenors are my primary PD issue. Have you looked at what could have caused you to get PD. One of my biggest issues was a gluten allergy that was not diagnosed early enough. I'm on a very strict diet to restore gut health. I exercise often. When I'm swimming I have no tremors and coordination is much better. I'd suggest taking a look at franklinmethodfellowship.po.... Watch what is the Franklin method and what are the benefits of using it. Episode 10 is on PD. All the exercises are suitable and beneficial for PD.
