Metoclopramide is a dopamine receptor antagonist and has been approved by the FDA to treat nausea and vomiting in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease or diabetic gastroparesis by increasing gastric motility. It is also used to control nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy patients.

Metoclopramide is an antiemetic drug which occasionally produced acute dystonic reactions. Although known to interfere with central dopamine mechanisms, it is frequently used in Parkinson's disease to prevent levodopa-induced nausea and vomiting.

The doctor must not have had a very good lawyer.

In my veterinary practice, metoclopramide was a game-changer in our forever war against parvo. Parvo caused severe vomiting. That let to dehydration, electrolyte loss and downstream effects such as shock.

It is available on prescription in Australia. It helped me so much . When I started on Madopar levodopa I suffered from severe vomiting and lost 8 kilos. Fortunately I was given Domperidon (metoclopramide) which controlled the vomiting until my body adapted. No side effects at all.
