so what are they patenting here? their methods of making a determination of how the microbiome matches with research?

it's interesting, in the past year I have read papers on early diagnosis, way before tremor appears, using brain imaging, proteomics analysis of blood, and now microbiome testing.

As accuracy improves and costs come down diagnosis and intervention will happen earlier and earlier. Maybe early enough so that lifestyle interventions are enough to significantly delay C/L use.

Is the goal really to delay c/l use or stop progression before it really gets started?

the goal is to have early enough detection to save the dopamine producing neurons.
