I find this part odd:

"Seltzer plays every Tuesday night in River Edge, New Jersey, with other Parkinson's patients as well as volunteers. He said the benefits he sees from playing ping-pong last a couple of days."

I would hope he could find a way to play 3 to 4 nights a week. I'm sure that would be hard to do.

I play twice a week with Ping Pong Parkinson (NYC). I'm not so sure about lasting results but it's a hell of a lot of fun.

I play virtual ping pong on my son's VR headset. Definitely not as beneficial from the human interaction angle, but more accessible as I live in a rural area without many resources. The physical experience is very good and my virtual partner is very non judgemental as my game is more pong than ping.

Ping Pong Parkinsons is an International group for PwP and wildly successful. Here in West Hartford, CT, we have Parkie Pong. I’ve seen results. People have improved movement. It’s social and fun too

i play once a week. But had to stop because it contributed to my shoulder injury.

Hah! I went to see an ortho who told me I have severe shoulder arthritis and need a shoulder replacement! Not possible due to tremor and painful tightness when I don't move my arm. (need to immobilize for up to 3 weeks after surgery) That' also why I had to give up bike riding. What can I do? I soldier on because I have so much fun with the ping pong. i take occasional anti inflammatories and ice after playing.

Thank you for sharing this. I used to be an enthusiastic player in my school days. Reason for me to get back into it. I found this link :

I wonder if playing pickleball has the same benefits. I used to play tennis 3 times a week but now I play pickleball. I recently had a knee replacement so my play has not been consistent enough to assess the Parkinson’s benefits. I have played pingpong in the past and there are considerable similarities between the two sports.

I agree and play both. Ping pong is faster so it has improved my reaction time but pickleball requires large movement so each has a benefit
