Anyone have nights they can’t sleep all night? I feel like It’s probably because I push myself to do things that need doing around the house. Anything you think can help? (Probably don’t do so much, huh?) Thanks!

sleep problem again
It is now 1:42 am . I went to bed at 10:00 pm exhausted and awoke 3 hrs later, fully refreshed and ready to do something . My back does not hurt like it did all day and the PD seems very slight compared to what it was yesterday yet I can not sleep.
I am not relaxed, I am jittery and anxious, maybe I had a dream that bothered me and I just dont remember it. Lonely when everyone is sleeping but I can read my books and around 5am probably go back to bed. Maybe I should stop having those naps in the afternoon . It could be worse, we could have to go to work the next day. AHHH retirement.
I think you should do as much as you can. It keeps your bowels moving and your brain clear and your self esteem high and exercise is important and real physical tiredness is a way to a good nights sleep, I am told, but I can not remember having one in the last 15 years.
Why is chocolate a reason? Are you saying that you take too much of it 🤔
who mentioned Chocolate ?
Sorry, Gymsack . I replied to the wrong comment. Here is the other comment that mentioned chocolate
Most of the time I take either a valerian or a benedryl, and I sleep pretty well.Sometimes even with that I will be up until 4:30 or 5:30 and then get an hour or two of sleep. But without it, would hardly ever sleep.
Unfortunately Benadryl gives me restless leg. But thanks anyhow. Sounds like you are in pretty much the same boat as I am.
Do try a strong valerian supplement of you've never done that, and have a think about how you can wind down in the couple of hours before bed, including avoiding the blue light of screens. It's really important to come out of adrenaline based "doing" mode, and by pushing yourself you'll be over-riding your body's melatonin and taking it into a second wave of activation, which then stops you sleeping.
I agree with the valarian.....wonderful herb. I just take a break from it now and then so's not to get too used to it.
I'd never thought of that - you got me curious, so I googled; FWIW it says "Moreover, some have suggested that continued use of valerian, at the effective dose, does not result in tolerance to the effect (Spinella, 2001)."
Magnesium L Threonate is another great support for sleep - relaxes muscles and also crosses the brain blood barrier which has to be a good thing!
I thought of trying the Magnesium l Theonate at one time. What’s a good brand
I was taking three Benadryl at night, alternating with other sleep aids. I met a neurologist who told me that Benadryl has an ingredient that’s been strongly linked to dementia :(.
What size valerian, and what brand, and does it work for you?
Nature's Way Valerian, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, 220 mg per serving, 90 Capsules

It says to take two, but I take only one, (too cheap) and most of the time it works.
Try listening to bedtime stories for grownups. It really works! I have no problem falling asleep but usually wake up about 3 hours later. I turn a story on and I fall right back to sleep. nothingmuchhappens.com/stories
Thanks Deb
I settle into my recliner for several hours of Chi meditation.
CBD oil helps me
I do not know if this would help you but sometimes tryptophan and glycine taken together can help with sleep
... and don't forget Lithium Orotate (search that words on the "Search HealthUnlocked" field).
My doctor prescribed .5 mg Clonazepam cut in half taken a half hour before bedtime. It gives me about 6 hours sleep and works most nights.
I listen to classical music which transports me to a different place and from I can slip into the abyss for a few hours.
I was researching how red light therapy works on the body and ended up jumping the track from red light therapy to Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy. (a lot to unpack there). Pursuing PEMF for general wellness and a hope that it may be able to slow disease progression. Along the way, we tried setting the PEMF device for 3hz (related to the brain frequency in deep sleep) and put it under her pillow. We are now 6 nights in to her sleeping through the night (up once for a potty break and right back to sleep).
More to come, but exciting early results. (also, 10hz on the lower back has had a significant impact on constipation).
This sounds interesting. Can you tell us which PEMF device you have?
Well...I found the PEMF devices to be too expensive for something that I was unsure of, so I built my own from a YouTube video. youtube.com/watch?v=Y-gQEnk...
The process was much easier than I expected.
Can’t open the video.
the url is youtube.com
after that, the rest of the URL is /watch?v=Y-gQEnkwNOg&t=380s
HU keeps "helping" when I put them together.
The creator is Steeve Bradet and the video is DIY PEMF - Battery Powered Portable PEMF Unit. You can search YouTube directly if you prefer.
Hi pdbuzzboard,
I was wondering if it feels like it warms the body in any way or could hypothetically do so.
It would be interesting for my research.
It definitely generates a small level of heat. The one I posted is just a 3 coil "belt" that runs on a 5V battery (I use a cell phone charger battery) and I put the coils on a piece of yoga mat. I also built the full mat (10 coils), but I modified his design to simplify the controller substantially.
The full mat generates about the same level of heat as the belt (not much).
too much levodopa in theER madopar was giving my hubby insomnia. It went away after changing back to the IR madopar tablets and reducing dose.
For me, that was last night. Up all night again
I am having DBS in January. Hopefully it will help a little bit with the sleep. Not directly, but it will calm the tremors which keep me awake.
I have random nights up till about 7am then I sleep well. Chocolate is one reason. The last time, I blame the mint chocolate chip ice cream. Other meds for other condition, plus PD seems to be the other reason.
I can't handle melatonin, I don't remember the reaction. But my sound machine helps. There's this hyped up that goes with it, breathing isn't slow and deep. So nature sounds help. If my legs are restless legging, then a higher pillow for them, or putting them up the bedboard wall, blood rushes out, and I zonk out. A few times it's tremors & I use a little (1/8, it's crumbled by then) 25-100 carbo-leva dopa-leva. Takes the edge off.
Mostly I decide whether to get up and do stuff, or look up things on the internet that I need to buy, or organized the house in my head. And be frustrated.
Hi curlscurls can you please elaborate on the effect that chocolate has on you? Do you have any cravings?
I'm sorry it's taken me a while. If I have chocolate later when it's time to sleep I am sleepy, tired, all the sensations of time to go to sleep... but I am awake. I'm not very functional. Can't figure out why I'm not zonking out. Then I remember I had chocolate chip ice cream or whatever it was. Same with teas. Or coffee nibs. Or anything with caffine.
Chocolate has the added feature of some allergy to it. The left side of my face around the chin, breaks into a red rash. Not the right side. Just the left.
I don't tend to crave chocolate. I often do crave foods I react to, but never liked chocolate as much as other flavors. My sister craves and has itching and fatigue from it. My mom gets headaches. My niece craves. So something runs in the family.
My husband had the same problem . He would get up at 3 am and think its morning as such. He just could not sleep like normal and did not know rhe right time to sleep and get up. In the later staes he got better guess the drugs help
