The magic of music for gait (before & after video)
YES Reet it really does work. A pair of wired ear-plugs or earphones on bluetooth and a small device in your pocket with recorded music and a good wheeled walker and you are good to go.
see this post here at HU . Dap 1948 is a Parkinson's patient and is here some times , she has a PHD in Philosophy and wrote books about Parkinsons related to Vitamin B1 and another on Music and PD .
Does anyone else find that a simple tap on their calf muscles will unfreeze them? (This doesn't work until I have taken my first meds of the day as I am too far gone before I take them,)
That's amazing. .🙂 Music makes such a difference. I first had freezing of gait a year and a half ago and it scared me. I tried moving my foot forward using my hand as it felt stuck like my feet were bricks. Then I saw a video like this and how having a tempo or rhythm to a song in my mind is important to get "unstuck". Next time it happened I thought of a song with a catchy tune and strong beat. I swung my arms a few times to the beat and took a big step forward. Finally I could walk again.
My neurologist says stress can make it happen more often.
Brilliant! A bit of a gin and Kleenex moment
