Ambroxol has been shown to possibly remove the misfolded alpha synuclein from the brain. Does this mean that Ambroxol is stimulating autophagy? How is this any different than autophagy? Has it been determined if Ambroxol is also removing other zombie cells or misfolded proteins? I doubt is targets only alpha synuclein. Senolytics like Fisetin and Quercitin are very effective at promoting autophagy,
IS AMBROXOL JUST A SENOLYTIC that can be made in to a pharmaceutical?
If the method of action of Ambroxol is that of a senolytic to promote autophagy, why do they not just refer to it as such?
Senolytics clear out zombie cells and misfolded proteins. That is what Ambroxol is intended to do. Therefore, I think that Ambroxol is just a senolytic.
This gives more credence to the validity of using a senolytic and or fasting to promote autophagy. I think a pharmaceutical for this is therefore unnecessary.
“Recent investigations have highlighted that senescent cells can ignite PD pathology via increased oxidative stress and neuroinflammation. Senolytics are agents that kill senescent cells.”
Hi Wind, I'm interested in better understanding the potential mechanism of action.
I found this short webinar really informative, it explains the underlying pathology of PD related to the Ambroxol therapy and brings in Ambroxol to the discussion at 8 mins 44s.
