"In what is believed to be a world first discovery, University of Otago researchers have found that wheat gluten causes brain inflammation in mice."

Things I'm doing/ have given up:

1. Sugar (not fruit!)

2. 90% of packaged /canned foods (how else am I supposed to eat my cauliflower pasta or sardines, olives, pasta sauce, etc.???)

3. Dairy

4. Gluten (of course)

5. And today is day #500 of my O.M.A.D. (one meal a day with all calories eaten within a 2 hour window) to help heal my gut

So how are you feeling?

worse, thanks

LOL

I'm not officially dx'd with PD

I saw a neuro/mds last september and he said to me after the exam:

"The good news is that you don't have Parkinson. The bad news is that you don't have Parksinson."

He was wrong. I have it.

Over the last 3 weeks my thousands of internal tremors that I've had for more than two years ... have manifested into my hands ...

And now my right hand trembles very very slightly when I hold a kitchen utensil.

My left hand doesn't do that

Sounds like carbidopa/ levodopa might help. If it does help then you definitely have PD. Do you see a neurologist?

I'm never taking pills if i can possibly help it

and yes -- i saw 'Bozo the Clown' neuro/mds (from a TOP hospital, no less)

4. Gluten (of course)

You read the bit about giving up gluten being bad for you, of course...

YEAH.

but nothing is helping.

my PD is very very very slowly progressing

the last 3 weeks my right hand now shakes (very very very slightly) when i hold a kitchen utensil

we all have problems on this forum

mine are miniscule to what i've read ...

and i'm trying EVERYTHING to stopping or slowing down greatly -- my PD

Why do you think you have PD? Tremor alone would not indicate PD, but one of many other neurological conditions. What other symptoms do you have that might suggest a clinical diagnosis of PD?

hi winnie, thanks for asking

1. although as of recently my eye problems have diminished 98% ...

starting about 3 years ago i had (and lately but rarely -- i still do have these:)

a) sensation something is in my eye (eye doc and neuro/mds says "dry eyes"

b) eyelid tremors (used to be so bad I had to 'pinch my eyelids' to get the tremors to stop)

-------------------------------

2. primarily left leg and left foot craming (although my right foot also cramps at very times)

-----------------------------

3. CONSTIPATION

lasted several weeks (very very very BAD) --- until I figured out a few tricks to BEAT that one!

a. situps daily

b. 3 kinds of magnesium

c. tablespoon of cod liver oil

d. lots of fiber in my diet

e. lots of water/coffee etc

and when things REALLY got bad....

f. vibration plate machine

i stood on it for a few minutes going UP and DOWN and UP and DOWN ...

(you get the picture, lol)

I don't know how they can claim this to be a "world first discovery". We have known about the dangers of gluten and other inflammatory lectins in grains for at least 50 years.

Perhaps this is the first time they have poisoned mice with gluten.

Humans have been suffering for centuries - since we started cultivating grains.

that's funny!

but screw the mice ...

also I just love how humans collectively believe animals/mice are not like us, yet are willing to believe that what happens to them in experiments will also translate to us. It's kind of ludicrous if you stop to consider it.

We have made a lot of changes, but not with respect to gluten YET. Will have to look into this.

In the meantime, concerning your diagnosis, have you considered sending a t-shirt to the woman who smells Parkinson’s? (Not that I have her address.)

LOL no --- and wouldn't do it

but thanks for giving me a good laugh today!
