Night time Hallucinations, a poem composed and narrated by my husband.

My husband wrote this when the night time Hallucinations were present. He found it was caused by an extra Amantadine but reduced it and they stopped! He’s very pleased he no longer sees the dog on our landing at night. Although it was friendly!

The picture that you paint would be so funny if it wasn't accompanied with so much pain.

However, we should be careful about the characterizations of the so many side effects of the multiple medications that we take. Not every Parkinson patient experiences every side effect uniformly.

For example, when I get into an argument with a certain loved one 😏😒, (and I tend to be my vehement old self), I will be accused of hallucinating 🤔. I have never hallucinated.

I applaud you for being supportive and seeing the lighter side.

My husband has had an amazing sense of humour all his life and has a sharp wit. Writing poetry has been away of expressing his experience s of PD, very poignant and upsetting at times. Sometimes a way of coping at what it’s a very difficult illness to deal with.

How did your dad wean off the med? Was it a lose dose? How soon did the hallucinations go away after discontinuing amantadine?
