Two of my neurologists discouraged the use of a treadmill because of the risk of falling. I also decided to stop (at least for the meantime) because I almost fell off when I developed cramps or dystonia.

A cross-trainer might be a safer alternative if your balance is impaired. I do 45 minutes on my cross trainer most days and it gives me a very good exercise session.
