Naturally raising blood pressure in Parkinson’s

my dad with PD has always had lower side of normal pressure after 18 with Parkinson’s he has a lot of fatigue and some falls even on B1 his neurologist is saying we need to raise his BP even though it’s regularly in the 100’s stolic & 60’s diastolic only going below normal 88 & 55 first thing in morning & when napping

She had us put him on meds to raise it now he is having hallucinations / delusions in evenings

I’m taking him off of it and would love some natural supplements & methods to raise it without meds

Ty for any advice you can give

Licorice root is said to raise BP.

That's true. It's used with CFS patients sometimes for that reason.

Yes, definitely licorice root, which you can get as dried root or in powder form. Any foods or supplements that have licorice as an ingredient always carry a warning because it raises blood pressure.

Set up his TV to alternate between Fox News and CNN all day.

For electrolytes you can also add e-lyte which is like the electrolytes in Gatorade but without all the sugar. It's not the tastiest, but you just have to sneak it in past your taste buds once a day.

The idea is to bloat the blood volume so that you get more pressure. That's what's done for dysautonomia.

Sometimes beta blockers are used for CFS patients. I don't know exactly how, but If you find somebody familiar with CFS they may know what to do. Also some antidepressants increase blood volume. And are also used in CFS too reduce fatigue and dysautonomia, rather than being needed for mental health reasons. The current big CFS organization is solveCFS. Might be a source for doctors who have a clue on all this?

I've had low BP my whole life (I'm 57 now). My normal has always been about 90/50, but occasionally it goes lower and I notice it. My 3 kids all have it too (especially my daughters). We just use salt (Himalayan pink for quite a few years now). That's always been my various doctors' suggestion. When I'm feeling light-headed or weak, I just take some on a spoon and wash it down with a big glass of water. It helps very quickly. I also am careful about sitting and standing up slowly from a prone position.

Immediately after my middle daughter was born, my BP was super low, and I couldn't stand up without fainting. The doc had me drink a tablespoon of baking soda dissolved in a cup of hot water. It fixed the problem within minutes.

yes, hubbies MDS actually provides a keto electrolyte mix to his patients. I’m not sure the exact ingredients, but I’m pretty sure there’s potassium, sea salt, erythritol, stevia, (instead of sugar) and a couple of other supplements.

Try to safely get exercise somehow as well. It can be hard to do, but that will keep the circulation going (especially the venous return can be hard if your sedentary) hubbies pt sessions have definitely helped with the fainting.

You can also consider compression stockings or abdominal binders if it drops mainly on standing.
