I forgot I had PD

Just had to share ...

Today, I got up before hubby (PD). Heard him moving around so he was getting up, too. Made my coffee, went to turn on my computer. About 5 minutes or so went by. Still no hubby. Hmmm. Better get up and check on him.

He was working on getting up from floor, on his knees holding onto bed post. Honey, did you fall? "Yes, I forgot I had PD." I patted him on his back. He didn't need my assistance so I left the room.

Hubby has fallen by the bed in the last several weeks. Mostly because his knees gave out. Body didn't want to come to a full stand. Thought perhaps he had the low blood pressure in morning. Told him to sit and gather his thoughts to let the blood flow and brain get going, and after a few minutes, then get up to a stand. Has worked until today as he forgot he had PD.

Well Done!

Is he practicing fast walking? if so, he should be getting better.

John, we've tried. He even went to LSVT Big and Loud (which is fast walking and loud talking). His balance is poor. We are both happy he can walk with a cane or a walker. No fast walking for him.

The secret is CONCENTRATION! If he does not concentrate on each movement then he reverts back to doing it subconsciously, which does not work!
