I was surprised he has the gloves but is still searching for solutions. I was hoping the gloves WERE the solution (maybe they are).

I agree and still hope they will be.Perhaps his display of them may have violated some agreed upon confidentiality.

Well he did say he still has the gloves, and says they are doing something for him. I wonder if he has cut his meds. Anyway, thanks for sharing this.

He states he has cut his medication, he is at the end of the 4 month period of daily usage 2x2 hours and is now in the 2nd phase of probably 2 hours a day 3days a week. That is the normal trial procedure at Stanford. He referred to that in his week 5 episode

I am to receive my gloves may 8 for a 4 month trial. 2 months programmed for effective use, 2 months possible placebo. Then can keep the gloves “until the trial is over” I too am a little unclear about how well they work for Pat

Very exciting and I am very happy for you. I hope the trial allows you to share your experience. I at least would be be very interested in following.

I think he was saying for the first part of the trial the gloves worked really well, but now he suspects he’s on the placebo arm because they have changed the algorithm and they’re not as effective. This doesn’t mean the gloves don’t work! If anything ( if in fact he is on the placebo) it proves they do!

So - our prototype of the gloves for a relative has been going very well as well. Her ability to stand up out of the same chair got almost 3x faster. Writing got clearer and faster. trips to the bathroom were actually improved as well. She's dealing with some different health issues right now but will be back to wearing them again shortly.

We actually made an updated version that is sewn into an actual Brooks lightweight running glove to make it easier to put on/take off.

can you share how you made your prototype? 🙂

it’s an arduino that I programmed as the controller. There’s an intermediate board for driving the motors on the fingertips. And then I used Vybronics motors on the pads.

Fingertips and controller boxes were all printed in PLA so my relative has been given strict guidance to not leave it out in the sun haha

that’s all a bit too technical for me! Like Jay I would love to know if you could set them up for other PwP?

I’m consulting with some folks this weekend and will let you know our plan of attack shortly.

Please have me informed too if you are going to be able to prepare ( Sell) the gloves to other PWP. I’m seriously interested. Thanks

hi Dan tech, any updates on producing the gloves for non tech types?

DanTeoh profile image
DanTeoh in reply toBluebell2022

currently exploring the bHaptics option! My prototype gloves were fundamentally too much time effort to reproduce

will await the bhaptics option you mentioned
