I have found that 5 ounces of aloe +1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar helps me. I take it at bedtime every night. It seems to take a little while to work through your system.
yes, that’s what we do now, along with some Miralax in a small bottle of apple juice each morning. He has also tried eating them out of the package but I think the heated method is the best.
We will keep trying. He’s so miserable. Thank you for suggestion.😊
what meds is he on? Hubby got constipated when levodopa was increased too much which caused sleeplessness, anxiety so more med ie sleeping pills which all cause constipation. Winding back levodopa fixed all the other problems almost immediately
Please go check Park_bear 's advice ..it involves Vit c powder and quite a lot over the day . One drinks it mixed in water. In my husband's case he takes about a 15 ml measure of 2000 mg strength Vitamin C powder over the course of a day. Roughly 5 gm per day. But click on the link in park_bear's reply to you for the all the details and caveats.
We had great success with a combination of 1 part prune juice, 1 part bran cereal, 1 part apple sauce. It took something like 6 tablespoons of the mixture per day to get things moving.
In my experience, a little magnesium carbonate dissolved in hot water every evening will rehydrate the intestine. Simple and effective, even too much.😁
If you have followed this forum very long you know that high dose B1 HCL is almost guaranteed to keep you regular while it works on your Parkinsons. I use 4 grams a day.
My wife too used to suffer for many years with constipation and since starting on B1 HCL about 6/7 months ago, she has become far more regular. We have experimented with several doses and she is currently on 800mg per day after going as high as 1200mg. The reason we dropped the dose is because she also now takes 250mg Benfotiamine and this helps the body with absorbing the B1 HCL better.
According to Dapne Bryant's book on Parkinson's and the B1 Therapy, others have also reported the same.
hi Williemom, I use a combination of 1 capsule of Tripple Magnesium Complex from Swansons & 1 capsule of Cape Aloe from Douglas Lab. each morning and each evening. Both products attract water to the bowels. If you decide to try it start slow with 1 capsuel for first day,
I put a couple tablespoons of avocado oil, or sometimes olive oil and my morning smoothie. Also a couple tablespoons of Metamucil. Both are very good for your gut biome.
This is how my husband has been dealing with constipation for some time now. (He usually takes 3 sinemet per day and that contributes to constipation so this is what we have found works for him.) I take one pint of water in larger (about quart) jar, add 4 teaspoons of organic whole psyllium husk, tightly seal with a lid, shake well and set a timer for 10 minutes. At the sounding of the timer I shake well again and put in a larger straw (shake straw) and he drinks this. At the bottom of the jar there is a little left which I spoon out and give to him. Then he drinks about 10 ounces of water in which 1 & 1/2 teaspoons of magnesium carbonate (Natural Vitality CALM) have been dissolved throughout the night when he gets up to use toilet. (This is just the most convenient time he has found to drink this one.) Hope this helps.
