Any member of healthunlocked forum with k... - Cure Parkinson's
Any member of healthunlocked forum with knowledge and experience of mucuna pruriens?
I have grown mucuna here in Tenneessee United states. It helps in supplementing the lack of dopamine in PD
My husband takes two at night instead of Sinemet when he wakes up to use the bathroom.
Seems to work about the same as the Sinemet but not quite as effective. His second neurologist said it's a waste because it doesn't pass the BBB but since my husband felt better with it, we kept it! His now third neurologist says it's fine and works like Sinemet. I give up!
We are trying a new neurologist in June we’ll ask, however our last one said in won’t work because it doesn’t bbb also.
I’ve heard not to take if you use levodopa. My husband uses levodopa.
haven’t heard that. My guy takes sinemet and we still do the Mucuna at night. It’s working! Proof in the pudding! His new neuro is part of the USCD neurology group and they do great work with all the disorders. Actually his new neuro said she’s not so sure that he has Parkinson’s. Not something I wanted to hear as I knew it probably means Lewy Body dementia. Ugh the worst. All other neurologists just did the cookie cutter approach with him. If it’s Lewy Body which the brain MRI seems to confirm, the. That explains so much. Having been part of this forum from the beginning I was always amazed at how much all those with PD do to fight. My guy did nothing and just seemed to get worse. I was the one doing it all. That’s how Lewy Body goes. Fast decline, lack of desire to thrive (without help!), meds don’t work well. Etc! Ugh
I think your husband's second neurologist is uninformed about mucuna pruriens (MP) and its methods of action. Studies have already proved the levodopa in MP crosses the blood brain barrier just as the levodopa in Sinemet does.
