I researching ways to reduce my HWP anxiety. This is an interesting article and includes some nutracueticals. Still confused about whether supplementing with GABA is good or bad. GABA receptors are discussed quite a bit in this article.

Only scanned the paper, but found it sufficiently interesting for a deep dive and have saved it to my library.

I too have wrestled with GABA. Stared supplementing and then abandoned it. Not too comfortable - probably because I am not totally convinced that this is the route.

I am using Lithium to great effect - now at 20mg elemental Lithium per day.

Still not clear on the role of Serotoin, but it seem implicated in anxiety and certainly depression. As Carbidopa down regulates Serotoin synthesis I counter balance this by use of vitamin B6/P5P.

Someone suggested that 750mg GABA and 20 mg of Melatonin, taken at night works to alleviate *anxiety.

Go try something, see what works 🌹

*Edit: Correction - The GABA/Melatonin combo was suggested for shakes.

How long did it take for lithium to show benefit? Just got started here.

At 10mg elemental Lithium per night, I would say three months. I use Lithium Orotate.

seems to me the levodopa is what causes hubby anxiety. The more he takes the worse he feels. It does break down to noradrenaline so that might be why

Lavender is well known for it's anxiolytic properties and is mentioned in the study you linked. Aromatherapy could help if anxiety is intermittent, but in more severe cases an extract called Silexan might be worth trying. It's available in the US in this product;

iherb.com/pr/nature-s-way-c...

In reviews, some people claim it works quickly (placebo?) but studies suggest it actually takes a couple of weeks to kick in.

sciencedirect.com/science/a... "Based on our results, the lavender aromatherapy and massage were the most efficacious treatment options compared to other treatment modalities for short term treatment of the anxiety. Silexan 80 mg (oral lavender) was clinically beneficial for long-term treatment of anxiety disorders."

sciencedirect.com/science/a... "In conclusion, our results demonstrate that silexan is as effective as lorazepam in adults with GAD. The safety of silexan was also demonstrated. Since lavender oil showed no sedative effects in our study and has no potential for drug abuse, silexan appears to be an effective and well tolerated alternative to benzodiazepines for amelioration of generalised anxiety."
