"90% of sufferers will go on to PD or Luy body disease within 20 years" This article is great. It's about all neuro diseases but 90% is about PD.

Thank you for this. I have just listened to the sections on PD, early diagnosis and early interventions. My husband has a long standing cervical spinal cord injury which means his mobility is severley impaired. He is just about to start taking Levadopa as his has recently developed some "parkinsonisms". If the Levadopa helps we are told it is definitely PD (there are many similarities in symptoms between cervical spinal cord injury and PD). This video has suggested a few things that may help him. For instance he has very loud and active dreams so probably a REM sleep disorder. I have just ordered a light therapy lamp as it is suggested as helpful for REM sleep disorders. I would be very interested to hear from any others on this forum who have spinal cord injuries and Parkinsons. The docs tell us that people with SCI are more likely to develop PD. It certainly adds extra challenges

Has is doctor said possible reasons why people with SPI are at increased risk for PD? Does he have reduced vagul nerve function? Reduced lymphatic drainage?

Sorry, I don't think the doctor mentioned anything about vagal tone or lymph being involved.

”The vagus nerve stimulates the intestines to push food (or “chime”) along the intestinal tract (“peristalsis”). Proper peristalsis mixes and shifts the chime, allowing proper nutrient absorption. Poor peristalsis can result in gastroparesis, constipation, bloating and discomfort.”

could you provide a link to your lamp choice? where does one use the lamp---for reading in a chair for example? Is it enough light to use for reading? thxs

I have no proper knowledge of which is the best lamp to order so just went along with what the doc in the video suggested which is 10,000 lux for an hour a day. I went onto Amazon and had a look at what is available and would work best for us. They mimic daylight but I think they are very bright so not sure about reading. As I say, I know only what was in the video above. I have ordered this one as it is a reasonable price and would work well for us. There are some that are cheaper but this got good reviews and is a certified medical device. They are also used for SAD caused by lack of daylight. Sorry I can't be more helpful. amazon.co.uk/Beurer-TL30UK-...
