Two meals a day, attempted fasting for several weeks, bought a chin-up bar, haven't lost an ounce.
So I give up trying to lose weight on my own. Tomorrow I go to the Westerly-Pawcatuck YMCA Branch. Maybe try a spinning class.

A combination of exercise, strength training and less calories is what works best. My HWP has back issues so exercising is limited, and to complicate things more the gabapentin he takes can cause weight gain. Spinning is very good for weight loss, high intensity, try that a few times a week with some light weights and I bet you will be successful. Some folks have good success with cutting out sugar and refined carbs. The whole 30 diet is a good examples.
Good luck!
One kilo of fat is about 7,000 calories.
If you consume about 2,000 calories a day, and you would eat only 1,000 calories every day, then you would lose one kilo in a week.
I weigh 75 kilos and regulate my weight very well using this method.
Many who, if they do sports they can eat more, this is only partly true.
Most then eat too much and gain weight! Crucial is that 7,000 calories mean a kilo of fat!
You just have to count the calories you eat every day... and think long term....
You wrote, 'Most then eat too much and gain weight' I guess I'm hoping that's the case for me. Otherwise can I blame the Parkinson's?
Thanks,
kevin
Have youtried eating once a day with lots of veggies and healthy fat and protein in the one meal? someone posted a Dr. Berg video on intermittent fasting. Very informative doctor with loads of free videos.
Do you eat gluten sugar or meat every day? When I eliminated gluten and sugar and reduced meat/ fish to every second day with vegetarian on alternate days I lost about 8kg over the next few months and they haven’t come back. ( I don’t have pd) and my hubby lost 20 kg.
I will make the reply as simple as possible. I was 107 Kilos when diagnosed, I went on a keto diet and in 6 months was 91 kilos. I could not be easier not to mention helping with the PD. 5 years and no meds. So many of my friends have now done the same and had great results when they saw what I achieved. If your going to do it, and you should, dont waste your time if you are not prepared to commit
Exercise is good for you--critical for you if have PD, but it will hardly help you lose weight. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
If you want to lose weight, imo you have to change your diet: what you eat, how often you eat, or how much you eat...pick two. You can eat keto/go way low fat (like under 5%) and do IF, or graze all day and total almost nothing ...etc.
(This came from a long and fascinating webinar that for the life of me I can't find now.)
I eat keto, and intermittent fast. (read: skip breakfast) That works for me--have lost 60lbs and kept it off for nearly 10 years.
PS--I agree w/gregorio: keto has the added benefit of helping with PD. So does fasting.
I think you will find a lot of answers re weight & calories in this interview youtu.be/CzRVXJD1CBg
When I would go on diets it would take 2 weeks to start losing weight. Then it would kick in and I'd lose half an ounce a day.
As far as I can see the only way to lose weight is to feel slightly hungry all the time. Learn to love that feeling!!
I reckon spin classes are pretty good too.
