Hi all
As we know thiamine is very much a hotly debated topic in many of the communities (not just Parkinson's) and one of (if not THE) the main reasons is to do with dosing and the various B1 derivatives.
I've been doing some heavy research myself in the last few weeks and decided to go back to the original work in Japan on allithiamine (natural form of TTFD) which is generally regarded as being optimal in terms of effects but having quite severe side-effects in some people:

What leapt out at me was the topic of allicin, the chemical component of garlic that when naturally combined with thiamine forms allithiamine.
And furthermore, as quoted from the paper:
"Garlic and onion have been used widely as a tonic in the world and from time immemorial. But, is the scientific significance really the formation of allithiamine in the body?"
So here is my hypothesis....
Is the simplest solution to the ongoing dosing and B1 HCL vs benfotiamine vs TTFD - efficacy vs side-effects debate, just to take allicin ?
The chemical conversion of allicin to allithiamine is an entirely natural one in the body with virtually no side effects. Allithiamine is after all the natural version of TTFD.
You take the one product, start with a low dose and work your way up.
Any thoughts? I am not aware of anywhere that has proposed this elegantly simple solution! 🙂
